Fuel prices

We are in tune with most of you. We have a trip planned to the West starting in July and will not cancel as long as fuel is available. Not to mention we are heading for Florida now. Certaintly not going to run home.

Go out and stay longer I stay!

As above we spend less when we are out long term.

Like most of you I am sensitive about fuel prices. In spite of the dire warnings regarding higher fuel prices, it's not likely that the fragile economy can absorb costs of more than $0.50 per gal.,so I am not expecting diesel to go much higher than $4.50 , if that. But If they do, We will keep on trucking.

Fuel prices are what they are and we can choose to do what we do.We have been this route before.

Gas prices really jumped overnight here to match that of diesel. Our current price for both gas and diesel now sits at 5.41/imperial gallon. Converted that would be $4.51 for a US gallon, and we are an oil exporting country!!!

Will that alter our spring/summer plans? No way, but it sure did get may attention!!! Can't wait to get hooked on in April and hit the road.

As long as oil is traded on the futures market you will see these swings in price.
It goes up and it goes down depending on which middle east country is currently rattling the sabers. Stay longer at one place and go more local when up and give it hell when it's down.

The best price in Bakersfield, CA is running about $4.30 per gallon. We will keep going as long as we can. I would hate to see our new rig just sit in our driveway! Safe travels everyone.... Dennis and Mary Kay

We are going, don't like high prices, but we are going. I don't want to be on my death bed thinking..."darn I wish we'd have taken that trip in 2012...but we stayed home and saved a few bucks."

Most of aren't spring chickens any more. We aren't poor. Poor people don't own expensive campers and trucks. Lets get out and enjoy what time and money we have. It's like an old neighbor of mine always told me when I was young "Boy we aren't guaranteed another minute"
On a slightly different note. My brother went to the stock market 2 weeks ago. The 400 pound feeder calves were going for $2.40 a pound. Thats $960 for a calf and beef cow anly yeilds aboyt 50% beef. If you like a nice steak eat it now. Next year the price might make you sick.

I just topped off my truck at a Maverick station in Bullhead City, AZ. I paid $3.97 per gallon and put in $150. Hope that holds me for a while.

Last year we spent over $6,000 for fuel for the Dodge 3500 and a Silverado 1500. Ouch!!!

I don't think our trip to California will be cancelled, just changed. If we take Monty, 2$5/gal, it will cost about $3000. If we do not take Monty, motel it and spnge off the kids, $1300. If I factor in the fact that I'm still paying for Monty I might as well use it don't ya think!!!

We’re not going to cancel any trips we have planned but it will definitely cause us to keep our eyes on the price of diesel. When I consider the enjoyment and the total cost of the RV lifestyle I find that fluctuating diesel prices have little effect on the overall cost. Adjustments can be made if and when needed.

We also foresee no major plan changes for 2013...so hopefully another 45 to 50 nights somewhere at sometime in someplace....starting the weekend of March 16th

I remember these same comments made 20-30 years ago about what we would do if gas/diesel went to $2 a gallon, the $3, then $4 and now now $5, I think many if not most of us will adapt like we have in the past.
At home in our town, gas is around $4.82 US gallon and diesel is right around the same price as per Gasbuddy.

I also think the number 5 has a mental catch to it, I remember back in the late 60's/early 70's reading an article in Motor Trend or another automotive guide reviewing a fully loaded Chevrolet Caprice Classic and the caption was "Is a Chevrolet worth $5,000?"

yes but what was your salary 20 or 30 years ago. 2.00 a gallon fuel would have been very expensive

You have a point Rich, I quoted those figures as an example, my point was that these comments will be made when gas/diesel hits $10 a gallon.

This morning we refueled in eastern OK, the price was $3.83 and the attendent said it just came down .07 cents today.

Oil is at 107.00 a bbl and still going up. This happens every year about this time.The price will drop as the speculators take their profits and we will forget about it till next year. We can control what we spend in all areas .Last time diesel went over 5.00 per gallon we just stayed closer to home.
