Colorado Gold
We plan on spending the summer in the Durango Co area. Received a monthly rate quote of $1100 a month and that is if we stay 60 days. Once I caught my breath, I responded with the man's canned answer, "I'll check with my wife and get back to you".
Anyone stayed in that area for less money?

Hay Mike I use that line a lot just for things like that, thats seems like a lot of money for a month, or was that for 2 months.
Isnt that where that movie was mad with that Lizard with the funny eyes

Crazy high. They know it is a small market and they make the money seasonally. You have the Gold, spread it around

Depends on what you're looking for... we stay at the a national forest site called Junction Creek and love it there. 50 amp electric but you'll need to fill fresh and dump at the chamber of commerce (just down the hill about 4 miles and it's FREE!) You can get water at the campsite just can't hook up a hose to the faucet. The sites are reserveable and reservations are recommended. We like site 13. $$$ is a whole lot less than what you were quoted. Great hiking on the Colorado trail (FREE). You can ride bicycles on a paved trail that parallels the Los Animas river and goes into downtown. Rafting is a lot of fun.

I was talking to a gentleman from Durango, he suggested looking in Bayfield Co. It is close to Durango. Hope this helps.

I live in Durango. Look into the Bayfield Riverside RV Park. I read a rating by a guy on RV Net who, at the time, (1 year ago) said it was in the top 5 in the nation (his opinion).

That sounds like a daily rate times 30. May be they stay so full with short term guests that they can afford to not offer monthly rates.

Mike, you should have explained to them you wanted to rent the space, not buy it!
I know that if you take $35 a night and multiply it times 30 days, you're talking $1,050 but most places I've found will give a good discount for a monthly rate.

We found a place for $600 so we took it. Sounds like a no frills place but not interested in pools and such. Westerly RV Park just north of Durango.
