AH HA! Tip of the iceberg I'll bet!!!

Oil price manipulation by traders. POW!!! Hope we're talking JAIL TIME here - not just some minor fine and a slap on the wrist. These guys hurt a lot of people with this greed.

Just the beginning

They also forced a lot of us RVers to change/delete our plans for this summer.

Quote:
quote:CFTC stressed that the price changes were small and the manipulation isolated, and that the investigation has nothing to do with the recent heat the agency has taken on capitol hill over rising oil prices.
YEAH, RIGHT!!!

*On Edit~ This last paragraph has now been edited out of a revised edition of this article. Apparently the authors thought it sounded too stupid - although it was a true report...

At the bottom of the "updated" article...
Quote:
quote:Correction: An earlier version of the story said indictments have been brought against the company and some of its employees. The charges are civil, not criminal.
Oh sure, why not?

As a side note: Who is this CFTC govt agency anyway? Why, I'll bet they are made up of former traders, bankers, other former commodity folks? Ya think??? I'm sure there are no alliances/relationships/friendships between them and their old buddies still back on the floor, or between them and their former firms that they were gleaned from... RIGHT???

This is sad at best. Who do we have that REALLY looks out for the consumer's welfare.

Fox guarding the henhouse....

The ONLY reason these investigations are being started now is because congress - under admitted severe pressure from their constituents - threatened to disband the agency and put all these guys in the unemployment line.

Apparently the Enron boys were different??? I don't believe those were CIVIL infractions?????

I have to believe JAIL TIME + HEAVY FINES would be absolutely necessary to promote an EXAMPLE.
