I work with a doctor who is the Medical Officer for the California Department of Forestry. He gave me this slide show that contains some *amazing* pictures of the recent "Humboldt" fire that was burning in the Chico/Paradise area:

Thanks Margee, those are dramatic pictures, we recognize several areas in the photos. We drove through the hardest hit area yesterday and there are very few homes remaining in the area. That DC-10 is one big airplane and looks even bigger when flying overhead.

After the thunderstorms over the weekend, No Ca has over 700 new fires. We have 24 new fires in our county with several a few miles east of Paradise. The Humbolt fire was on the South side of town, so the new fires unfortunately have plenty of fuel.

We got these pics earlier from a friend. These and the ones taken out the backyard of friends make you realize how close the fire was to town. Ray did get a kick out of watching the DC-10 come over the house and drop it's load in the canyon.
