Sewer Hose Storage

Who designed the sewer hose storage on the Montana's. Try and put a 20' hose in there. Where do most people store their hoses.

I carry one of the 5 gallon plastic pails with lid in the basement for sewer hose storage. I do keep an extra extension or two in the sewer hose storage compartment. I have never had a problem putting twenty feet in the compartment, but you have to kind of spool the hose and compress it when putting it in.

I use the "Sewer Solution" system and it fits into the space well. For me, it is better than the under-the-body tube of the older models.

I put a couple of PVC tubes just behind the front jacks and store hoses there. Some folks use 6" PVC schedule 40, I used 4" DWV PVC.

I installed a access door in the rear bottom panel above the stabilizers and use it for sewer hose storage. There is a lot of storage room in that area and the door I used is twice as wide as what Keystone installs, much easier to get the hoses in and out.

We can get 20 feet of hose coiled in that compartment (3400) we also carry extra hose in the storage box in the rear of the truck and also have a tube under the front compartment. You can never have to much sewer hose, water hose or Power cable.

I can get ours inside there also. I would suggest a space for gloves and hand soap. I have mine just inside next to the valves.

We use the sewer solution and it all fits inside that compartment, but we also have an extra tube for one 3 inch hose for those times we need to dump at the public dumps...never used it since we got the sewer solution.

Like Bingo said you have to compress it and coil it as you put it in the compartment. I have a 30 foot hose and it fits in that compartment.

Don, it does get pretty tight, with the adapters and fittings stored there.
I installed some tubes for the hose and a 7' ladder.

I went to Home depot and got the 4" pipe, some strapping, 4" gear clamps, a cap and a threaded collar with screw in cap. I installed it this afternoon. Much better than the little cupboard in which I now store all my sewer fittings. I think I will eventually get a Sewer Solutions System.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't Ozz, but it might have been Bingo, nice place to carry his bugs!

2 PVC tubes behind the front jacks for the hose. Use the so called "Sewer Hose" compartment for all my sewer hose rubber gloves, adapters, etc plus some extra sewer hose.

I installed two 8" X 4" PVC pipes under the rig right behind the little one that came on the rig. Then lo and behold, the little one has broken loose and fell off going down the interstate. Must've been an odd sight to anyone following. The one installed by Keystone is too flimsy. The thickness of the pipe is too little and the bolts pull right through after a couple years of hard use. It didn't hold enough sewer pipe anyway.

I put it at the back near the back corner of the slide near the small sewer storage. I have JT's Stabilizers on the Monty and did not want to leave the legs down the 4" that would be required if mounted on the front.

I was on another forum and the storage of the sewer hose came up and there was a RVer that used the square tubing for fence post and used the caps to secure the hose in it, it also was a clean instalation as our round pipes are.

Just a word of warning. The back wall of the storage compartment is next to the wheel well on our coach. It isn't secured very well and the pressure of trying to stuff the hose in could break out the wall. It happened to us and the hose with the fitting wrapped around the axle and the fitting rubbing on the inside of the tire, destroyed the tire. Careful out there and don't stuff too hard. It wouldn't hurt to reinforce the wall so it won't push out.
