How much deposit when ordering TV?
I have been following all the messages for the last year and I am finally ordering my TV (F-350)and the dealer wants a $5,000 deposit. It sounds high to me. Anyone ordered recently? How much did they ask for? List price for truck is around $50K. Thanks Nick

Find the fleet manager, first of all. I never "deal" with the front end salesmen; they are, well, car salesmen. And, they have no authority.
The fleet manager is used to dealing with professionals, will usually get you the best price, right out of the gate, and our last two trucks required a deposit of $ZERO.

Zero, nadda, Nothing, ZIp none, that is what most put down, never heard of this before, if they want to sale the unit they will order it, it's a ploy to get up front out of you.

I never put down a deposit, if they want my business they have to earn it. However I always order with all options, never order a Truck that would be hard to sell. Now things are a little slow for HD Trucks, due to the Fuel price. Good Luck on your decision.... GBY...
When buying Trucks or Cars your in the drivers seat until you sign the contract. When dealing with on a new veh. be able to get up and walk out the door..

Having ordered and bought several cars and trucks I have never had to put up a deposit. I would find me a new dealer. The last one I ordered came in with the wrong color and several of the options were left off. My dealer said it was his because GM sent what they wanted and not what I had ordered.

Never had to put down a deposit, but then never had to order a truck either.

I've never had to put down anything. But that is probably because I've dealt with the same dealer time and time again primarily because they've dealt fairly with me.

Thanks to all. I already found another local dealer who agreed to $500. I guess in NYC dealers don't really think you are going to buy the truck.

Way to shop. My dealer wanted $500 to order. Very reasonable but the wait was attrocious. They shopped the other dealers (2400 of them) and found just about every thing I wanted but the color. No big deal, I like what I got. Bob

Deposit to order a vehicle. I never have. Your two best tools when buying something are your 2 feet.
Walk away from a demand deposit.
