Bike Hitches

I want to put a bike hitch on the back of my Mountaineer but all the welding places won`t touch it because of the enclosed underbelly. I don`t think the bumper supports are stong enough for 4 bikes. Anyone got any Ideas??

Welcome mgdg,
Keep looking. Several folks have done or had done the addition of a support for a bike rack. You may want to do a search here to find some of the threads that talk about bike racks. Good luck.

On our last 5th we installed a bike rack on the hitch. Welded a receiver to the fifth hitch and put the bike rack at the front over the truck box.

Thanks for the help! I was thinking of having a receiver welded to the front of the truck. A friend has one welded to his king pin. I may try that. Thx

I believe that it is Hidden Hitch makes a front hitch assembly for most trucks.
I have one on my F350, with a 2" reciever.

If you have a long bed, the bikes will fit crossways up by the cab. I have mine on a board across a couple of milk boxes [temporary until I come up with something better] and Mary's is upside down right next to it on the floor. Her bike is very small, 16"? Plenty of room for turning. We went almost 3k miles with no problems.
