Tire wear/new tires for my truck

Hi all, hoping for some guidance on tires for my truck.

First question, my truck has about 45K miles on it and the tires are basically done. Does that seem a reasonable to you? Seems a little low - but obviously we do pull our Montana Mountaineer with this truck so I am assuming that will reduce the life of the tires somewhat?

I don't drive too hard or fast in my truck - so I don't think that explains the low mileage on the tires.

Now - given I have to get new tires - what to get?
I was going to replace with the same on there now - Michelin LTX A/T
Or
Goodyear Wrangler AT/S
Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2
Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure

Or do you have a better suggestion?
Thanks!
Chris

I have about the same milage on mine and they should be good for at least another 20,000. I plan to replace them next year, but only because I use them at least 1/3 of the time on Arizona Jeep trails (I know I don't fit, but if you check my paint job you'll see we make it fit) and the rest of the time towing the Monty. Hitting large rocks at speed is why I won't push them too far. Anyway, what's on our truck is BF Goodrich Trail TA's and I'll be replacing them with the same kind. The brands you name are all good and there will be members along soon supporting all of them.

Those Michelin LTX A/T numbers don't sound that good and I had to try hard to wear out my Goodyear Wranglers (went to about 55,000 miles) and when I did get new tires, I got Michelin LTX MS/2s and they are wearing well except for the one that prematurely "torqued itself" but did not blow up. I had posted this some time ago.

The other Michelin MS/2s are well on their way to the anticipated 70,000 miles of life.

Get in touch with LonnieB in the MOC. He runs a Tire store in New Mexico and has made other good recommendations for tires.

I have run the Michelin LTX M/S on my last two trucks. These tires have done well for me. If you are just running on the highway, with no off road, it would be better to stay away from an A/T type tire. Good tire maintenance is a plus, proper rotation, alignment. Just my thoughts on the matter. Everyone has tires they like to run on their trucks.

I've got the OEM Goodyear Wrangler A/Ts on my truck, still looking good at 36,000. I have them rotated at every oil change. My buddy bought the exact same truck as mine only a different trim color. He got about 55,000 out of the OEM Goodyears and put on a set of Michelins. He doesn't tow anything. He says they are really quiet in the road noise department. I haven't been in his truck since he made the switch so I can't verify that. Anyhow, my plan is to go with the Michelins when I'm due.

I replaced my original General tires that came on my F350 when I had less than 20,000 miles. I didn't want to but I swear I could get stuck in wet grass with those tires, I hated them. I went with BFG Rugged Terrain T/A load range E. I felt it gave me just enough of a snow tread but still would be a good road tire. I now have over 10,000 miles on them and really like them. They are wearing good and they came with road hazard and free lifetime balance/rotation.

I am running Toyos on my 07 Dodge 1 ton megacab and get about 35 to 40,000 miles on them.

In as much as 90% of my mileage is towing the 15,000 lB monster I don't think this is bad mileage.

The Michelin LTX A/T2 is a 60,000 mile tire, The Michelin LTX M/S2 is a 70,000 mile tire. Others, including the BFG Rugged Trail T/A, BFG Rugged Terrain T/A, and Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo2 are 50,000 mile tires. The Goodyear AT Adventure is rated at 60,000 miles. Pulling a trailer, you will not get the rated mileage out of any of these tires. The best thing you can do is make sure to keep them properly inflated and rotate them every 5,000 to 6,000 miles. I know that sounds like a lot of rotating, but it's the only way to get the most use out of your tires. I do know people that have pretty good luck without rotating them. They just run them until the rears are worn out, move the front to the rear and buy new for the front, repeating this process each time the rears wear out.

In my opinion, the Michelin LTX M/S2 will give you the most miles driven per dollar spent, with the BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A following a close second.

Lonnie is certainly the last word here, you can't beat a man at his own game. The last tires that were on my truck were Michelins they didn't last but 30,000 miles but you can't blame Michelin for 600 HP and a too heavy foot. I did replace them with Michelins. They are great tires.
