Storage Bay Packed without Injuries

No blood was shed, no shots were fired, and the storage bay is packed for the move to Texas on the 26th. Yes, there were a few tense moments, accompanied by "Do you really think we need to take that?" and "Wouldn't it make more sense to pack the things we don't need until we get there in the middle of the crates and put the things we know we'll need on the road on the outer edge of crates?"

We're packed. Enough said.

Be careful when you get where you're going. I've found more injuries (particularly back problems from getting that tool box out) come from getting the stuff out than come from putting the stuff in. Hope you have a great time!

Whatever works is right! We even have a tiny bit of room to spare underneath, which was surprising. The only thing we can't take with us is my bike; adding a hitch and carrier would have cost more than my Wally World bike, so I'm leaving it here and buying another cheap one when we get to our destination. (I'll sell it or give it to my grandkids, who live 3 miles from where we'll be, when we're leaving our park host situation in Texas and moving on to another place.) While we've seen several rigs pull in with bicycles strapped to back ladders, we don't feel comfortable strapping mine to our ladder. We have a rear kitchen, so I know how much bouncing goes on back there.

Bottom line: We're packed and ready to pull out for Texas early Saturday morning.

Congratulations in finally retiring from the teaching profession. Now you too can enjoy the life of leisure that Wayne has discovered. We are amazed you managed to pare away enough stuff to actually fit into the Montana full-time. I know the weather will be better in Texas than Dillon (particularly the winter variation). While you are further away from where we travel, we hope to see you again next year somewhere.

Carolyn-- Have you checked on a bike rack for the front of the tow vehicle? Many have them! Also I've seen several put their bikes in the front on the pickup bed ahead of the Monte and hitch! There is also a bike rack that fits on the hitch of the Montana. Seems like a pretty safe place but I don't know about the bugs on the bikes!
