Direct tv dish traveling location?
Just wondering where you carry your direct-dish when you are traveling? Just trying to get last minute things together before we go full time. Thanks Jack..

We also detach our dish from the tripod and carry the dish inside, sometimes on the bed. It has to be protected or it will bend or get out of alignment. The tripod goes into basement or front storage.

Our DirecTV dish rides on the couch with some throw pillows wedged under it to keep it in place. Logged about 20,000 miles so far and no issues. However, if we ever trade up, I want one of those roof mounts that will find the satellite automatically.

Our dish goes in the forward compartment and the mount will fit just about anywhere.

Ours rides on the bed. We leave the tripod attached. It rides on the dog beds which cover the bed. No problems so far.

The dish, tripod, board with another hookup, and all the cable ride in a big tub on the back seat (we have the crew cab). May change this but it is what we are doing for the present.
Happy trails......................

We carry our dish in the basement but Bill has mounted the stand to a board so that goes in the back of the truck.

Bill & Helen,
I have just spent a couple of hours looking at your journey up to Nov. 10, 2005. Saw many of the same places I have visited over the years. It is a most enjoyable site. Beauiful pictures and interesting notes. Can't wait to get back to it. It's 11PM in VA and I'm going to bed.

I keep the direct tv portable dish in the bed of my truck wrapped in foam and bungee corded. The tri-pod, I keep in the basement storage in the carrying bag. At my full-time campsite I have another dish permantely mounted. The portable dish and tri-pod was less than $100 for both. Buying the extra set beats picking it up and moving whenever I plan on using at a different site.

When we had the Travel trailer, I had it on my ladder in transit. I made a L-shaped hook, used a good rubber cord with hooks and it stayed put for over 12,000 miles.
