Those are "mushroom caps" and they are vents for the ceiling area.

Can you identify this

I was up on the roof today for the first time. I have two of these one on each end of the roof about 6” from the back and front cap in the middle. It looks like a vent.

Yes roof vent. Mine rotted from UV rays I guess. When I got the replacement parts I noticed they are two piece. The top unscrews from the bottom making it a 5 minute replacement job.

Easy to replace as previous response. UV will do number of these vents so plan on replacing if you keep your Monty long enough.

And when replacing put a dab of RTV on the threads. I totally lost one because it just unscrewed going down the road.

Randy-- I'm curious as to why you need to look at how the roof is constructed? The attic/roof vents draw the hot and moist air out of the space that is between the roof and the ceiling inside. The rafters are from about 2"-4" in height and the wires, and a/c ducting run through spaces of the rafters to where ever they need to go. If you have bad caps on the vents you can remove the cap and put a new one on BUT you will have to purchase the whole vent assembly to get that new cap. They do not sell just the caps alone. I replaced both of mine on the old unit and now on the new unit I try and wipe them down with some sort of UV protectant so they don't oxidize quite so fast now. Your caps look really good compared to what my old unit caps looked like when I replaced them. They were really pitted and when I took them off they were actually brittle for the UV rays.

I spray painted my replacements to make them last longer.

The reason I like to know how the roof is constructed is this I came from owning class A motorhomes. Those roofs were constructed using aluminum, foam insulation and Luan and fiberglass sheeting and placed on the coach as one piece. They had put the cooling vents, satellite mounting plates built into the roof. I was quite surprised that trusses were used in the roof, thus did not know of ventilation needed. My caps are in great shape because the Montana is a 2020, and I have only had it month and a half now.

I replaced one of these on my first Montana about 10 years ago. It was like chalk when you rubbed it. If my memory is right, I think it kind of crumbled when I removed it. Thinking of this, I need to check mine the next time I am on the roof!!!

I hope the propellant in the spray paint doesn't defeat your purpose.
