She is coming home.....

Hi All,

Great news, our trailer is coming home. She is all fixed and everything is working great. We got to do a walk thru today and they showed us what happen and they showed us all the parts they had to replace.

Boy, It was a mess of burnt wires and electrical components. They had to rewire the trailer from the breaker box and fuse block all the way to the ground power outlet. They even had to replace the power cord and the winder. Then they had to go the other way and replace everything to the generator. A new surge protector and the switch the turns on the generator and then bring it back to shore power had to be replace.

The reason for all this damage is when they installed the generator they did something really wrong in the wiring and when I started the generator when I was on shore power is when everything went KABLOOEY. There is some cabinet damage from the hot wires touching the wood but it was contained where you can't see it. The replace some of the wood and put down some kind of protective sealant. So they will clean her up today and we will pick her up tomorrow afternoon.

I guess we can be happy again, but I sure hope and pray that we don't have problems done the road.

If you are interested the service man told us it was about $10 to $12,000 to fix. Thank GOD I didn't have to pay that bill

Thanks again everyone for your word of comfort and concern for our well being and helping us with this problem. You guys are great, and all of you have a heartfelt THANKS from Sofia and myself...

Great news. At least they owned up to it and covered it. Happy Trails at last!

So if it was wired correctly, starting the generator while plugged in to shore power should not be a problem? I have been careful not to do that but some day I'm sure I will.

Make sure that you have the auto switch that put you on gen orator or Shore power. I had my generator install at the dealership not the factory that was the problem that started the ball rolling.....

She is home...

We just got home with the trailer and she is back in her place and all hooked up and everything is working just fine. Dealer did a very good job of keeping the trailer clean while they were working on it. Can't wait until first trip...
