Any is suspension problems?
I have had a number of susp. problems with the stock suspension and am considering IS, but are there any issues with this expensive addition?

Looks like shocks, grease, proper torque. We are having ours installed after this years ralley.

We have had the IS on both our 063400 and this 13 3402 Montana. We are long timers and do a LOT of miles. We considered the OEM suspension the weakest part of the 5th wheel. We upgraded both within the 1st 6 months of ownership.. Wwe have not had a single problem with the IS system in over 130K of travel.

Had it on our old rig for 70,000 miles and now on our new rig for around 10,000. Wouldn't have a rig without it.

the only problem with the IS is the initial cost of around $7K with disc brakes.

Good tires, good suspension and good wheels makes for thousands of trouble free miles when traveling. If I am going to have problems with my rv I certainly don't want it on the side of the road. The reason why I mentioned wheels is because I had to replace all my wheels on account 2 of them cracked while traveling.

What sort of problems with the stock suspension, other then needing to replace shear springs,I have had no issues

All my failures were on the streetside, 2 Shar springs, and then the rear most greasible bolt snapped in half. That was it for me to go i.s. route.

If you have the extra cash. It’s definitely worth the investment. I have about 6,000 miles on mine since Morryde installed last November. Your trailer will last a lot longer with the independent suspension.

I had one of my shackle bolts break and would shift my right rear axle back when going forward and forward when backing. Noticed this when my tire was wearing on the outside excessively on that one axle. I was already on the list for IS at Mor-Ryde but this just confirmed I was making the right decision. This also helped my wife understand why I needed the IS. The IS might not be for everyone but if you do travel long distances instead of just being a weekend camper then it is well worth the money for the peace of mind and the much better ride quality compared to the leaf and shackle setup.

I have a 2017 3720, bought in Aug. of 2016. While driving home from Ariz. to our home near Toronto(Owen Sound) l lost a spring hanger bolt and correct track discs. I fixed. While driving home from Goshen Indiana I lost a different bolt and discs. I fixed. The next trip to Ariz., I lost yet another bolt and disc set. These are all from different locations. The tires are now showing uneven wear. This year, in Ariz., the rear axle rear spring hangers broke off the frame. A local guy welded them back on but not before he burned thru an hydraulic line. I fixed. On the way home the tires are really showing wear so I stopped at a truck stop to change one. I then noticed I had broken springs on the rear axle, both left and right. Apache RV in St. Louis Mo. fixed for $2300. The next day, the shackles on the rear axle loosened enough to allow the right side to travel to the back of the spring while the other side moved up to the morryde rubber strut holder thingy, which cut the tire severely. I fixed on the side of the interstate in the rain. Iwe finally made it home. Other than the above, the suspension has been wonderful. I now need new tires.

Subsequent to the above post we now have to decide whether to install IS or to buy a used Class A motorhome. We have been towing something since 1982 but this suspension takes the cake.

Well I set a date for IS/disc brakes today. The earliest appt. available is late Sept. These stock trailer susps. are obviously not winning much trust from rv owners.

When I did my Summerization (aka dewinterization) a few weeks ago, I checked the brakes, added a little grease to the zerks, axles, springs, frame, bleed the brakes, and then I checked the wet bolts. At least four or five of them were not fully tightened. They weren't loose, but I could almost get a full turn on them. I can imagine they'd fallout or fail in time if I had not checked them. I don't plan on upgrading to the IS suspension, but I know I'm checking the bolt torque on the spring hardware more often.

What setting do you torque the suspension bolts to? All the same or different torques for different positions?

Wet bolts are 50 lbs. The older LRE suspension 40 on the shear spring bolts, 45 on the shear spring brackets .
