oops they are 2X10s not 2X8s. Cut 10'length in half and another 10'length in half and one of the halves in half again. Leaving me with 3 5' boards and 2 2.5' boards, of which I leave 1 5' board home for use in my driveway.

Where are you guys putting all this wood? Glenn, I like your "block" setup, too, so I would want room for some 6"x6" (5 1/2" actual?) blocks for the from jacks.

If our rig is only off by the thickness of a 1" board, I just let it go. The important thing is to be level front to back in order for the refrigerator to work properly. Side to side isn't important except for comfort. I'm not sure we even notice when we are 1" off.

I guess I spent too many years in construction. "Level" "Plumb" and "Grade" are three words that always get my full attention. I'm pretty anal about it I guess, 1" off would drive me nuts. My wife thinks I'm crazy, but she has accepted it and still treats me kinda nice.

I carry 6 or 8 2X8s about 15 inches long. I also had the plastic Lego like blocks but found scrap lumber cheaper so if I lost one or break one who cares. There's always another construction site near by and usually they are only to happy to get rid of some scrap pieces and now you know why I carry a 7 1/4" circular saw.

Now here's a little trick I learned.
If you need to raise the rig 2 inches use 2 2X8s, one under each tire. But what if you only need to raise it an INCH and all you have are 2X8s?? Carry 1X lumber? NO need to! Cut a 2X in half? NO not hardly! Don't bother as it's only an inch? NO! Even an inch is a lot if your sittin for any length of time.
It's really quite simple. Just use 1 2X8 under one of the tires and nothing under the other and it'll be level. Don't believe me?? Don't blame ya. I didn't believe it either until I tried it. Next time you have the rig hooked up give it a try.

Hi Glenn,

We still have not used the orange blocks that I bought from you at last year's rally, at least not for levelling the trailer. We do as you do with 2x8's. I had not thought about your trick, but I guess that is why they call those cast iron bits between the wheels "equalizers". I'll give this a try, because Donna has been asking for thinner boards for levelling. She seems very sensitive to levelness.

Thanks for the tip. See you at the rally (Want to buy some orange levelling blocks?)

I like 2"x8" pieces with the ends cut at 45 degree angles. Quick and easy to do with a compound mitre saw or a table saw. I like gadgets too but I think backing up on boards might be quicker than filling up an air bag. I want to be sucking on a wobbley pop soon after I get into the CG. I admit the air bags would be more precise.

I used to store the wooden pieces in the front, now will store them under the shelf I built to level the basement storage floor.

I store all my blockage in the back of the truck. These things do get quite dirty and sometimes muddy and I didn't want the mess in any of the compartments.
For the individual pieces I use a large plastic milk crate. The bigger blocks all have their individual places on the truck bed. Everything is placed just so that nothing moves around while underway.

I think I posted this before, but here is an idea.
Pipe flange, 3/4" pipe, retainer, holes in boards.
You can mount the flange wherever you have room.
I use them to put under the legs, and bottle jack.

I use 2x10's, or maybe it's 2x8's and do as OntMont does for leveling half the height of one board. Works great. I store mine in the locker lower areas, like just in front of the dump valves. I have boards on both sides of the compartment so I don't have to walk so far to put boards under the other side. I carry rags to wipe them down before putting them in the locker. I'd like to bevel mine some day but have only a sabre saw onboard.

I no longer put boards in the bed of the truck, since I had a guy pull in behind me at a gas station and tell me he barely dodged a board that flew out of the bed and bounced under the trailer a couple of times before flying toward his windshield. It was a 2x8x12 inch piece of wood.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

I found the air bag levelers on line, I just googled Level Air, they are $70.00 each. Looks like the manufacturers really stand behind their product, kind of pricey though.

Yes, Pete, a little pricy, but they are really nice to use.

Glenn's tip on using a single board under one wheel is the same thing I do. I learned it on this forum. John, it works. Sometimes I'll end up with two boards under one wheel and one under the other.

Ozz, I'm going to order the air bags, it looks like a snap to set up and you don't have to keep trying to add a board and so on.

Ozz, I called the number for Level Air twice and got their voice mail. I left a message for a call back, but so far no response. Oh well, I guess I'll stay with boards.

I just called Level Air and got voice mail, an individual not parent company Warm Creek Manufacturing. Tried dexonline and no listing for level air or warm creek. Hope they are still in business. Thanks

So what are you using to pump up thoes Level Air bags? Seems to me it is eaiser to just drive up on a board and forget getting out the air compressor, hose, electrical cord etc.

I bought from Warm Creek, I hope they are still in business.
I love mine, I have 12 Volt on board air, a Wal*Mart air mattress foot pump will work, a Tire pump will work will little effort.
To each his or her own, boards are fine, I used them before I got the air bags, but let me say that if I am a little off, I just increase or decrease the air pressure to raise or lower the side.
I'll look into the sellers.

Like Buffpilot I have been trying to reach Warm Creek/Level Air, I think the number is to a cell phone, no one answers, you get voice mail, I also emailed them but no response. I think they are out of business.

I also have the "levelair bags"Into my 3rd season with them. The nice thing about these bags is you get perfectly level every time out. They take up hardly any space while traveling. When inflated they are as hard as a rock. The rubber material is vert thick and I have had no leaks what so ever.I use a CO2 tank to inflate them.
