Shower floor safety

What do others do to prevent slipping in the shower? This is the DW question. She has fallen and doesn't like my suggestions of either a rubber mat or peel and stick shower floor strips. So, I'm looking for other suggestions. Thanks

Our model has the tub shower and with the textured surface on the floor, we’ve never had a slipping issue. I’m not sure about the floors in the other types of showers in these rigs, but I’m sure the adhesive type anti-slip things would work fine. We were concerned about this at the beginning too.

We have the 4' walk in shower also. It has the textured bottom on the floor. The DW would like something that her feet can grip. Thanks

Suggestions if mat and stick on's are not an option:

1) Use less soap so the floor isn't as slippery
2) Wear flip flops on the feet
3) Skip showers completely
4) Use the campground shower rooms
5) Turn off the water heater. Tell her is broken. She won't want cold showers. No shower, no slipping floor, no falling
6) Use your outside shower and shower there
7) Exchange the wife for a different one?

Like was mentioned previously, if DW doesn't want to slip but is unwilling to accept the only options to prevent it.......??

Having had so many surgeries and replacements on my knees they just don't work much any longer, I can tell you, 100%, that if you slip and fall, ending up like a malformed pretzel on the bottom of a shower floor unable to move your legs.....mats, stickies or anything else are immediately an option if you are actually serious about the problem.

My shower has a seat. I sit on it to bathe when the shower floor is slippery.

We bought a “clear-ish” plastic/vinyl mat for the floor of the shower. Don’t remember if it came from Target, Walmart or Bed Bath Beyond.

They make a paint, which you can get in clear, with a sand like grit to it. You could paint the floor of the shower with this and get extra grip. Had to do this to my mother in law's walk in shower in her home. When you get it mixed, you can add as much or as little grit to it as you like. Got the paint and grit stuff at Lowe's and had them mix it for me in the shaker.

The sanded paint is a great idea, surface has to be completely cleaned of all soap residue!!! I'm a retired painting contractor and have done my share of shower floors, check out some YouTube videos about the preparation it's all about the prep bro!✌🏻️

We use these at home and in the camper. The downside is they are like a filter so they will load up with crud especially where the drain is. We run them thru the washer every 6 weeks or so.

I also have the large shower with the seat. We use the clear mat with the suction cups on the bottom. No way around it. We have the factory “no slip” bottom on the shower but still can be slippery. The mat can be taken out and cleaned easily. I will sometimes use the seat if I am tired, even with a mat. I have slipped once in a shower and won’t do it again if I can help it. Tell DW she will just have to get used to it if she wants to stay safe.

When DH had his stroke while traveling last year, I had to prep our trailer for his return from rehab (FTers). I got suction flowers for the shower seat, a loofah mat for the shower floor & two grab bars for the walls. All the mat did was collect hair (mine was waist length at the time) & its suction cups wouldn't stick to the textured floor, so we eventually pulled that up, but the suction flowers stayed on the seat till DH was stable on his feet. The grab bars (by Drive & also use suction to hold) are still up & used for those less-than-steady days. Got everything at Bed Bath & Beyond. The early, post-rehab showers were quickly done seated, but are now done independently without issue. Even with his neuropathy, the shower floor doesn't seem to be a problem.

As an aside: those awful doors (3931fb) glass? Who in theirvright mind thinks sliding glass doors in a moving mobile was a good idea? One day into our trip and I found shattered glass all over the bathroom. Took a whole day and then some to clean it all up. We put in a sliding fabric like door. Much safer!

As Mr. Mustang stated, it's all in the prep. If you decide to go with the sanded paint option, use something like denatured alcohol to clean and prep the floor. Make sure there is no residue and floor is dry before painting. Good luck.
