Hair line shower wall crack.
Has anybody done a repair on the shower wall of a hair line crack, not sure how it happened or could have been there all along and just didn't notice it unless you push at the crack and it opens slightly.Wife was washing down the shower wall by hand and felt it snag the rag. Wouldn't be concerned if it was up high enough out of the water running over it but its about waist high and water splashing the wall and running down over that area. Its on the long wall. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Would like to make the repair were it wont be noticed as now you cant really see it unless you push on it. Chuck.

So the plastic shower surround is cracked and could let water in for mold to grow which is bad. You could try pushing on the Crack and injecting silicone chaulk as you push, work slowly down the Crack and see if you get a bead of squeeze out after you release pressure. If so, you could let that dry then razor trim surface bead. Somehow I doubt that will open the Crack enough to really seal it. So it is replace it or seal it from the backside with fiberglass window screen embedded in epoxy. Of course, to remove the surround requires taking everything (glass enclosure, faucet, etc) out in order to remove the surround. It is held in by plastic rivets and double sided tape, if like mine. The glass enclosure is one piece on mine, so getting it out of the bath can be a real chore. Bottom edges can scratch things so moving pads necessary. Or you can apply clear gorilla tape over the Crack and call it done.

Jcurtis934 I was thinking the same thing with clear bath silicone and hopefully can get enough in the cracks and push the crack down and have the silicone come back out and dry and shave off the excess. Thanks

I had the same issue. The crack has probably been there since new. I found one crack and when it was being repaired, the tech found a couple more. All were hairline, on the corner; it was probably dropped or bumped during installation. It is fiberglass, not plastic; I would not recommend silicone; it will show up more than ever and just get dirty. I had mine repaired at a fiberglass shop that mostly does boats. They did a great job, I can not even tell where it was. I discussed it with Keystone before the repair, sent them the receipts and they paid for all of it.
The tech that repaired ours said it is a very common repair and he does a lot of them on houses. The installers are not real careful when they install the surrounds & tubs.

On our old rig, repaired the pan with a kit I got on Amazon. I prefered to fix it from the surface so I knew there were no small leaks missed.

The OP has a 3791RD of unknown year and it likely has the one piece fiberglass shower instead of the plastic pan with plastic surround and glass enclosure.

Crack
We do not have a crack but there is a tiny spot at eye level on the outside wall that looks to me like a screw tip poking through. It’s the size of a pin but I have nightmares of it developing a crack someday after a long drive on bad roads. I’m watching it every time I get in the shower.
