Rotation?
When you guys get your tires on the Montana's rotated do you rotate the spare into the rotation? I have a full size spare with a wheel that matches the wheels on the trailer. Also how often do you rotate your tires? I will be doing my first at 10,000 miles.

I did not have a spare that matched, so I went LF to RR to RF to LR back to LF every 5,000 miles.

Since there is no drive axle on an pull type RV ... I've never seen the need to rotate tires.

About 19,000 miles on my tires and have never been rotated. No detectable wear difference on any of them.

Have never felt the need to rotate. For me, tire age beats out tire wear.

There is enough work to owning an RV. There is no need to create more!

No axle is driving, and no axle is steering. Rotation is a waste of money/time on a trailer. If you develop a wear pattern on a trailer axle, you have bigger problems that rotation will not fix.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't rotate their tires. When I saw this post, I thought "you gotta be #*&@@&% me! Another chore?

Willy Bee, when I had 5 wheels that matched and since I had paid a bunch of bucks for the GG614s, I decided to get the most miles I could from the $300+ apiece tires. Therefore, I rotated like a regular car every 5k miles. Otherwise I would have ended up with a new spare tire that aged out. If you have the chinabomb tires, as cheap as they are, I am not sure it makes much difference if you rotate them or not. Now that I only have four matching rims, I rotate front to back on the same side of the axles once a year (~15k miles) because the weight on each wheel is not the same.
SamBam, it is not really a chore since I repack my bearings annually and have to take the tires off anyway.

Got over 20k on my 614's and no visible wear. Will be tossing them in 3-4 more years due to age, not wear.

Over 35K on our G614 and have never rotated them. They still look good and looks like I will change them out because of age not wear.

Since there are no driving axles or steering axles, there is no need to rotate the tires. If one of more are wearing odd or faster than the rest, I'd be looking into why.

Charlie-- No need to rotate your tires on the Monte. I do have mine balanced and aligned(with the new units they are set up with an easy alignment system for the dealer to align the axles or tires rather than having to take them to an axle shop) but have never rotated on either of my Monte's. With the G614's the outer edge of the tires "look like" they are wearing BUT they really aren't unless you are running them to low on pressure. The outer tread on the tires are smooth and are suppose to be that way. Many think they are wearing but that is not the case and it is just the way they are designed.

Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but it seems somebody on a forum, don't recall which one, said trailer tires should be rotated. His logic was that they should be rotated because the curb side tires take much more abuse than the street side tires. That's where the rough pavement is and has all sorts of trash and junk on it where the street side tires are on the normally clear pavement.
It's not a bad job if you have the right tools.

I balance my tires on all my equipment. make sure you go to a tire dealer that can lug balance the tires. It is a special adapter that is use the hold the wheel by the lug holes not on the center because trailer wheels are lug centered NOT centered on the hole. I have found it to work very well and the shake is gone.
