Slider Hitch Recommendations

Received the new Ford F350 Crew Cab short bed (6.75) SRW last week and would like to have everyone's recommendations regarding which slider hitch to purchase. I guess the way to go is an auto slider with the two choices being the Demco Hijacker and the Pullrite Superslide. For those of you that have these hitches please provide me with their input on their experiences and pro's / cons. If there are other auto sliders or manual sliders I should consider please comment on them as well.
I know this subject has probably been covered many times over but I would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks in advance for your input.

What is the year of your Montana. If a later model, you might not need a slider. I do not need one with my signature rig. I am using a B & W Patriot with fixed mount. Love the B & W.

Sold the older Monty so we are in the market for a new or late model used Monty so it may be possible to get along without the slider.

I agree with what others have said. I have a 2011 Big Sky 3580 RL. I have be en pulling it with a F250 2002 with the short bed and a B & W Companion hitch. I now am pulling with a F250 2015 with a short bed using the same B & W Companion hitch. The B & W Companion hitch is not a slider and I have plenty of clearance making real tight turns both going forward and backing up.

If you have a short bed truck, the slider adds a substantial amount of angle clearance from the side of the trailer to the cab corner. Yes you will clear corner to corner, truck to trailer, but then comes the SIDE of the trailer. In my opinion, the slider gets you back into the clearance range of an 8 foot truck bed. In national and some state parks, I have done some serious jackknife back-ins that were only possible with the slider on my 6.75' mid-length bed F250

I have the Superglide and love it. It is heavy but I am able to lift it with a winch in my garage. I have an older Montana and need the slider. I searched this forum before buying the truck or trailer so I could make an informed decision. My motto is "better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it". Like others have said, the newer rigs have angled corners and manyhave reported that they have sliders and don't use them.

These "serious jackknife back-ins" put way too much stress on the fiver's tires and suspension. Most of the time I find another way to get it in and if not I get another site. I will admit that I am a retired trucker and have done a little backing over the years.

Looks like you may have decided on no slider. For 10 years we towed an SOB and our current trailer with an '04 Ram short bed and the Superglide. We now tow the trailer with a 2014 Ram short bed and a new industry standard Superglide. I wanted the extra safety margin between cab and trailer. We maneuver as if we had an 8 foot bed. If you decide on a slider, I can try to answer any of your questions.

We have a slider and have never needed it, but have come close and when I changed the head on my hitch I kept the slider base. The reasoning being that a sharp turn and a bad angle could still end up with the rig in the cab. No hard in the cab, but enough to do damage.

Personally, I wouldn't be without my Superglide slider hitch. I'm just not willing to take the risk that I could impact the cab with my RV. With the Superglide, I don't even have to think about it. I certainly have enough to think about already when I tow. I have NEVER had a problem with my hitch and it's over 4 years old. Others say they don't need a slider with the new front cap. That's certainly their call and their RV/TV. The Pullrite Superglide isn't cheap but neither is RV/TV body work. Good luck with whatever you choose.
