Spent my hard earned money

Well I went and bought a Trailersaver BD3 hitch. Boy they do not come cheap even with the promo they are offering now. I wanted to upgrade my Reese 15K hitch which I purchased in 1999, even though it was still in great condition. I thought I would go to the air hitch to make the truck ride even better than it does now. Now for a couple of questions.

My 3725 tows and rides in my opinion great compared to my SOB with my old hitch. How much improvement should I feel with the air hitch? I have winterized my unit and is covered for the winter so I will not be able to test run until April. I have installed and hitched up to adjust the ride height, but would like to get some feed back from others who may have air hitches.

My old hitch has the bed saver on it and cannot be used on the BD3. Is there any thing out there that fits my new hitch? As I get older, I find that I like insurance just in case I distracted when I hitch and unhitch the camper.

Thanks,

Jay

When we first put on the Trail Air Triglide we were amazed at how soft the road had become. We kept looking back watching the Montana movement while we were smoothly gliding along.
Perhaps the Butches Services bedsaver will work for your hitch. We paid a total of about $56 including shipping for it, and like its simple construction and bolt-on feature.

Thanks for the information. It looks like Home Butch's Services does not have one available at this time. Maybe before camping season begins.

I really cannot wait to take it out to test the ride. Sounds like it makes a big difference.

We were impressed with the difference our BD3 made in the ride, even my bride said it was a good purchase. I will not say we do not notice the rig back there, but the ride in very smooth and all chucking is gone (what little remained prior to the Mor-ryde king pin that came with the Montana). Make sure you buy one of their lube plates; the normal ones work, but it is a tight fit.

Thanks Kyle,

I noticed that the lube plate that I currently have did fit, but just like you said, it is a tight fit. I will purchase one of there lube plates.

I have a 2010 dodge 3500 srw diesel with air lift air bags. Pulling a 2010 montana 3615 fifth wheel. Currently have a draw tire slider hitch. I am getting a lot of chucking and bounce. (Have not tried it since installing the air bags.) do you think the bd3 Hensley hitch would help?

Iwayne,

My unit has the Mor-ryde pin box and equalizer and it ride is fantastic compare to my old SOB. I purchased the BD3 to see if I could make the ride even better. What I am thinking is the pin box will helps with the back and forth motion and the BD3 with help with the movement (bumps) transmitted from the trailer to the truck.

I still want to know that the trailer is back there, but DW and I want a ride that is as smooth as possible. So to answer your question, I would say yes, but I didn't have much bounce or chucking with my Reese setup.

I had the mor/ride replaced while I was at lippert. Not impressed with is so far may switch back. Had center points installed. Don't know if I like them yet cause one bag had a hole in it and I had to drag it home to ct empty. Do you think that my truck air bags will work against the bd3 hitch bags or work together?

Iwayne,

I don't have air bags on my truck. It rides and holds the 3200 pound pin weight of my 3725 fine. I just wanted to make the connection softer between the truck and camper, thereby the BD3 should accomplish this task. Any motions between to two should be helped with this hitch. In my opinion, I don't think the air bags on your truck will work against the bd3 hitch. The air bags will help you level your truck and carry your load better. The BD3 will help against the forces transmitted from the trailer to the truck and from the truck to the trailer. But remember I am no expert here as I don't have air bags on my truck. Maybe someone that has them installed can chime in and answer your question better than I.
