Thinking snow tires

Haven't needed any for a few winters, this one however I will. K.C.: Winter: truck driving in the city=Snow tires...
All weather tires are not snow tires, need me some aggressive tread.
What say you, learned M.O.C. Members?
I know, I know. you Arizona and New Mexico folks can just move on, lucky people
I found a great article on snow tires, haven't read much of it yet, (Looked great so far..)I will, but any experience from members will be appreciated.
I love Michelin's, but intend to get something cheaper, hopefully almost as good.

Ozz, for years I ran BF Goodrich AT's on my work trucks. While not a specified snow tire, they did as well as any snow tire I've ever had (and living here in Michigan, I've had my share of snow tires!). Unfortunately, they aren't cheap and on top of that, my work trucks were all S10's, and while they got great tread life on those, the set I bought for the 3500 are wearing out pretty fast. One thing you might consider - go with a moderately aggressive all weather or mud and snow and have them siped (sp?). It's a process where the tire store cuts micro grooves across the tread. It doesn't seem to affect tread life, but makes the tires grip much better on ice for starting or stopping.

I am profoundly fond of the Michelin M/S tires for my work truck and have used nothing else for over 15 years. I run them year round since when I am not dealing with snow on the mountain at work, it seems like I am dealing with mud. I only have a half ton Ford for work, but the set of the M/S's on it now just went over 50,000 miles and still have about a quarter inch of tread left. They are expensive, but they don't cut which is a another prime consideration for me due to the nature of our roads at the mine.

I have two buddies that have used this company for a combined four sets for their 4x4's. Both are running the BFG A/T tread and have been very happy with them. I've been tempted, but not as long as I've got Hannah behind me. I've mounted them for them and the only thing I've noticed is it takes just a little more weight than normal to balance.

I have Michelin LTX M/S LT275 70-R 18 on it now, I have in the past used Michelin snow treads, really liked them for deep snow we get here. I bought the new ones in Buckeye this fall, Figured I would put the snow treads on for winter, and the M/S will just last longer.. ?? Bad logic?

It sounds like you've decide to stick it out this winter in KC, OZZ! You running a fever or something? Got a nephew up here that owns a tire shop and if you get a price from down there let me know and I'll see what he can do. He can get any brand period!

Just had 4 new BFG A/T put on. My F350 came with General's that could get you stuck in wet grass. They were not cheap but the reviews were good. With any luck I won't find out how good they are in the snow.

A guy on the DieselPlace forum whose opinions I totally respect also endorses them, stating he runs them all year. Just make sure you get "E" rated. The Amazon ad is just to show what they look like.

Those suckers are pricy. But they look like good tread and good snow tires.

The price is right on these and they have good tread.
I would check with Lonnie, but I don't know if he sells many snow tires over there. I may check with him anyway.

Look no further, I have found the answer to your search. Tread is excellent in snow. Air pressure is a non-issue. Traction is enhanced even by the sidewalls. I will let you research the price and availability. You can thank me later!!

Bingo, it probably is what it looks like, a solid tire? I bet that sucker rides rough. I wonder how that tire works for them in the long run.. I'll run it by the boss, but she will probably ask me to stop running around with you..

Ozz, nope they aren't solid at all - you can see right through them when looking at them from the side.

Oh, I meant solid in a different way, like no air, too early in the morning for my already limited brain. You guys getting a ton of rain down there? We got hard rain most of the day yesterday.
