While you are away........

Just a reminder to all. When going away from the sticks and bricks with our Monte's, call your local law enforcement agency to do a daily vacation check. Locally, the DW's aunt and uncle's place was broken into while they were gone. Detectives believe because the 5th wheel normally is out front, thieves took advantage while it (they) were away. They live on a busy, well lit road with close neighbors too.

With money the way it is, we are happy that our State Police will TRY to inspect the property once a week.

The county officers have long stopped such investigations and we have no local officials.

We do fill out a request tho with the state police and we have a house sitter who inspects the house fully on a regular basis.

The rest we give up to a couple of great neighbors that also inspect (they did so for several years before we found out, great neighbors), the insurance company and our Maker.

Nice that you have this option, our local police dropped that service years and years ago.

No such service here, we try to make our place look the same when there or gone, park autos and rv behind closed doors, have lights and window treatments the same day and night with some occasional changing done by neighboring family. We live in an area that at night is dark, rural, and quiet, but I think daytime is when most thefts happen. We have used a trail camera to capture exterior movement, but only found the usual dogs, deer, and raccoons. Have considered a surveillance system, but would need to have a landline phone connection. We have insurance, and try not to get too attached to "stuff", but as we have lived through a break-in when more youthful it is the loss of privacy that would hurt the most.

Before our daughter's health turned to crap and she could travel with us, I used a bunch of timers set at different times to turn on lights and a radio (wouldn't work with the TV's because of they type of on/off switch they had). I had lights going on and off at all times.

If a low life thief wants in, he will find a way regardless what you do.
