Wow, never thought about radon in Misery. I know that when I sold my old house, I had to have it tested for radon, termites, and probably even ghosts, but I got rid of her

They have Lincoln County in Maine as 3.6 but my house was over 6.0 so I had to take care of it. Lincoln actually is a known hot spot and the map does not show it.

We live in Adams County Pa. When we bought our house there in 1994 the home inspection included a radon test which passed! After my neighbor realized we didn't have any type of mitigation system he insisted we get the house retested. We we're shocked when the results came back well above 15! A second test was even higher.
Luckily for us the builder made provisions so the area beneath the basement floor could be easily vented. We installed a vent fan and lowered the reading to less than 1.3.

Wow John, you need to take your neighbor to Ruths Chris for a steak, they might have saved your life.
Then send the bill to that inspector...

10-4 on thanking the neighbor. To be honest, I was a bit reluctant to take his advise at first. Then I found out he not only invested in a vent system for the basement, he was also conditioning the well water to eliminate radon at the tap! Think he was using a carbon type filter. As cheap as the test kits are I figured why not check it.
