Small Local Roads Baptism

Knew it was going to happen sooner or later. Missed a turn in Lafayette IN (home of Perdue U) due to construction detour on the way to MOC Rally. Betty (our GPS) had us do a U turn and routed us through the most narrow neighborhoods she could find for a good 3 miles. Folks must have thought we were out of our minds to tow a 38ft trailer through where we ended up going. No misshaps, except the new fingernail marks in the leather of DW's seat and a few frayed nerves. I was pretty impressed with just what could be done being that long. Of course everyone around me might disagree.

Sooner or later, has happened to all of us! GPS put me on a dirt road one time for over five miles. Going into a campground, never follow the GPS, follow the directions provided by the campground, as they usually have the best route figured out.

Just did that in Elkhart trying to avoid construction. Only problem with the side roads, besides the obvious, is that it's a good idea to check your roof after that experience. On the small roads there aren't as many trucks cutting you a path thru the foliage.

We use our GPS, bit DW has and will over rule it.
She almost always has a map close bye. Have done good so far with the Montna. Once with the 28'TT we follow Sam (GPS) and had to back up to make some of the turns coming from Smith Mtn. Lake in Va.
