Wash down time - so sore!!

It was a relatively nice day at the local campground and since I had taken the day off work, I decided that the time was available to wash the outside of the rig. I was fortunate to have the cleaning supplies on hand (ladder, micro-fiber wash mitt, and a couple of micro-fiber towels for wiping down afterwards). I realize that my method may be the most primitive of all time, and after about five hours the dirty deed was done and the majority of the dirt was gone. To clarify the procedure, the cleaning agent was water, and the methodology was to wash the rig with the mitt (yes - by hand!) and then follow up with a towel to restore the shine. Now obviously, this did not handle the black streaks at the corners completely, but it did make the rig look a lot better. I will have to use some cleanser on the bottom plastic areas of the sides. I will tackle the black streaks next, as soon as I can find a non-abrasive, non-stripping cleaning agent to use. I know at least that I did not use anything that would have any effect on the decals. On a maintenance note, I did notice that a couple of screws had backed out of the fenders and disappeared, they will be replaced while I consider the more permanent solution of stainless steel bolts and nuts possibly. Oh and as mentioned in the thread title, I am definitely sore today!

If you do that kind of work on a daily basis you get used to it and aren't sore anymore. In the interest of friendship an humanity I offer my rig so that you can stay in shape and not suffer in the future.

Bingo,
I've been using the products from Croftgate that were shown to us at last years Mid-Atlantic Rally. One gallon of water and a capful of the cleaner and I can wash the whole rig. It works really well. I've been very happy with all their products.

Did you wash the 2X4 also. They say you can shrink them right down with soap and water. Great story and I can't believe you did that, but again, "another engineer that don't drive a train".

Bingo as soon as you get done with DQDICKS unit you can swing up here to Nebraska and I've got one you can work on also. Nothing like keeping in shape, I always say!

Bingo
Mine is parked ten miles from Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. Great place for the wife and kids to spend the day while you are washing mine.

Sadly, this task doesn't get any easier the older you get....

It is such a comforting, warm feeling knowing that the MOC is always looking out for me! Rest assured, that if wasn't for this thing called work, I would jump right on all those offers. I do remember the Kroft products Jim and may have to look up their website since I do remember that one of them did a great job dealing with the black streaks. Looking back at the wash down, I would be surprised if I used five gallons. Speaking of five gallons, that is how i started the process, until the first time I came down off the ladder, I stepped directly into the daggone bucket. It was then retired and the outdoor shower was used to rinse the mitt. Live and learn I guess!

I feel your pain..... Bob was on the roof scrubbing on Tuesday. He hit the higher spots when a ladder was needed, but I had the rest of the rig. Now we need to wax the beast.....The older I get the longer the rig gets.

Hi Bingo,

I did the same thing last weekend. I used the Croftgate http://croftgateusa.com/buy-croftgat...s/wash-and-wax we got at the Mid-Alantic Rally. Just one gallon and 1 oz of Wash and Wax. I putter around over the 3 days we were at the camp ground. The weekend before that I cleaned the roof.

If you use the sealer after you wash it, the bugs wipe right off the front cap. I wait until the following morning after we travel when the dew has settled on the cap and just wipe the critters right off.

What's wrong with you guys? A few bugs on the front cap and the front of the TV show a touch of class to us RVr's!! If you don't have them, the unit is just sitting there and the tires are not rolling!

Bingo,
Just for a change of pace I offer my 40' MH for you to "stay-in-shape" with. Now don't fret, you will not have to do the roof. Earlene does that for me. Matter of fact she was up there just this week giving it a good scrub and forgot to put on sunscreen. Oh well!

Now, we WERE on water restrictions and the two times before that when we came home I had to do it by hand - WITHOUT WATER. So have you heard of Turtle Wax's ICE detailer? Wipe on, wipe off, wipe on, wipe off, so that's 40' x 2, plus 8' x 2 and that is about 10' high. So quitchabellyachin! (And I'm 70)(and a half+)

Bingo, I feel your pain. We just got back from a 9 day trip to Myrtle Beach, and drove in the rain all of the way down, plus two good storms while there. It took half a day to clean the Monty and the ram on the outside, while DW spent a couple of hours cleaning and "de-sanding" the inside. For what it's worth, she used some Arm & Hammer carpet deodorizer with vacuum booster, and all is good again. Smells like new again! JT.

I spent a good portion of Sunday washing my Monty. Got on the roof and did a good scrub. Cleaned all the slide toppers and awning and washed the Monty. Probably give it a good wax on wax off soon. I know how you feel Bingo when it comes to soreness.

Thanks for the warning about being sore. I start tomorrow morning on mine. Do I start with the hot tub or finish with it?

I would recommend the hot-tub both before and after, before to loosen up the muscles and after to hopefully soak away the pain!!
