Computer flash on Cummins engine

FYI

I took my newer 2003 truck in and had the computers re-updated yesterday. From the records they put a new modual in in 2005. According to the service bulletins they had a number of prgram changes that included the shifting of the tranmission and also fuel changes that give better MPG. I had it done and went from 15.9 overall MPG to 19.5/20.0 as it looks so far. Road driving went from 17.9 MPG to around 22.0 by the trip computer. If anyone with a Cummins and is not getting the good fuel mileage that others seem to get this is a far more reasonable change (90.00) to make than after market changes. My results were better shifting and a much more snappy throttle response.

That is good news.
I have a 2006 DRW 4X4 3500 with only 3,000 miles on it and I am already getting a bit over 22 mpg hwy (Canadian gallons) and about 17 city driving. That is winter driving.

It does work and everyone with a 2003 and newer should get it done.
My one neighbour had it done and his towing milage went up 2 mpg.I also had it done and my towing milage went up 2.5 mpg.

Also Amps, wait till you get 10,000 miles on the engine, it just gets better.

If you truck is still in the 3 year warranty the update should be free.

Bill.

I had it done about a month ago, no difference. If this is the first time the computer has been updated, they changed how the computer reports milage so you need to figure milage manually for accuracy.
