I have always had my bedliners sprayed over the rails. Having the rails sprayed will help protect your paint around the top of your bed. Since I have 2 bad shoulders I tend to lay boards ontop of the rail before I can readjust my arms to pick the boards up again and put them down into the bed. I also like having the rails covered since it seems to be when us "guys" are out talking by our trucks we tend to rest our hands and arms ontop of the rails as we solve the worlds problems. Having the liner cover the top again just protects the paint from scratches, dents, and chips from every day use.

I am not up 100% on my Ford's but something to look at before you do anything. Most of the Ford trucks I have looked at seem to come with a factory plastic rail cap. If this is true, I would see no need to have your liner sprayed over the rails. If you have paint instead of the cap, I would go with over the rails. Just my 2 cents.....

PS~ My dealerships (Truck and RV) both said to have the liner sprayed in first and then add the hitch. This will ensure the bed is totally covered and protected with the liner and makes spraying it in easier on the shop.

Al had liner sprayed in BEFORE hitch was installed and if my memory serves, also BEFORE the JackRabbit tonneau cover was installed as well. Truck has Line~X, I like it, have not heard him say anything negative about it.

I had Linex put in our truck, had them spray under the bed raill, that way you don't see any
ugly black bed rail tops. I've had it for 2 1/2 years now and not a single problem, and I've thrown a cord of wood in it, tools, etc, and not chips or anything else. Love it!!!

I'm getting mine sprayed under the side rails of the truck because Chevys come with a plastic cap on them. As for the hitch rails, I'm going to remove them, get sprayed, then reinstall them. If you spray over the hitch rails you could destroy the integrity of the liner if you moved/removed the rails after spraying the bed.

I've had the rhinoliner in the past three trucks and have been very happy with it. As far as I know, the linex is similar quality, just a bit different look. So long as they spray at least a quarter inch and are a known name I would make the purchase decision based on best price and which I liked the looks of best.

OK, so it sounds like I'm in the minority, but I don't really care for sprayed on liners, I have been looking at an alternative called a "bedrug". Does anyone have any experience with these.
(I think I'll start another thread on this so as not to confuse the issue).

I had both. This truck has the x liner. both basically the same, but less fade and staining of the x liner. Have had it since o4/05, truck is outside all the time and no fading at all of the xliner yet. Rhino has better gripping power. (harder to move thing around just sliding them then the x liner). That being said I will stay with the x liner brand for me.

edit xliner=Line-x

We had Line-X on our 1999 F-350. Total satisfaction!! Even when our RV fell from hitch plate and crushed the side rails of our new truck, the Line-X did not crack, chip or peel!!
We currently have a 2003 Freightliner FL60. It came with Rhino, which is chipping off in various spots, from the bed of the truck. What is the warranty with Rhino? Thank you.

David there are several threads on this subject. It's like asking which truck.. everyone has the best.. I bought one truck with a rhinoliner and the next truck I purchased, I again had a rhino liner sprayed on. This current Truck I purchased I changed to the Line X.... IMHO The Line X beats the rhino hands down.. I have also noticed that Line X sometimes runs a $50.00 OFF, in the sports section of the local paper... You might check your's When I asked the dealer he said it was a National Ad that local owners do now and then.

The Rhino Lining does not chip if it is correctly applied. It is very tough. You should check with the installer. If they do not satisfy you then you should get hold of the manufr.

Had line-x installed in my 2006 f250 in February and have had no problems at all. Installed it before I put the hitch in so all they had to do was drill the holes through the liner for the hitch.

We love our Rhino lining. Nothing slides back and forth and it was installed along with the B&W hide-a-ball so it looks clean.

I had Line-X installed in the truck bed and the side rails before the hitch was installed. Have had no problems so far.

I then installed a Access tonneau cover, the clamps for the cover are attached to where it was sprayed, so yes, you do need to have it sprayed first on the rails. My cover does not completely cover the top rails of the truck bed. The black liner with the black cover looks great.

If you need a picture, I can send one.

I think all of the new bed liners are good except the ones that have to be screwed into the bed.......this is verified by looking at older trucks that have them, most have broken plastic parts.
