It's a first for me....

I just checked the fire extinguisher in my TV and it was dead. Last time I checked was about a month ago. How does this happen? Where did the contents go? Anyway, this is the first time in my 40 years of messing with this and has ever happened to me whether in past vehicles, trailers, home units, or anywhere. I recall having to use one I had in a prior van because of a small fire I had to put out, but that's a legitimate reason. Then I bought a replacement that went with the van when I got rid of it.

Reminder to everyone, check your extinguishers and while you're at it, all the batteries in the safety devices and test all your alarms in you trailers, stickhouses and vehicles.

Time to shop for a replacement for the TV.

O rings fail and pressure escapes along with a wide variety of other causes. Monthly and annual extinguisher checks is one of my jobs with Fish and Wildlife and they can go bad from one month to the next. Also wasps and other insects can plug the hoses, cheap plastic Chinese controls can come apart and employees can use them for all kinds of uses never dreamed of by the manufacturers.

I have healthy respect for the fire extinguisher, I had a friend get killed by one. Be careful, teach visitors how to use them, and be aware of the pressure that is contained in the device!

And we start out with the cheapest ones the dealers can contract for.

That is an excellent reminder. When we got our first fiver we purchased two additional fire extinguishers. I keep one in the truck and one mounted in the basement of fiver. I got both on sale for under $25.00 each.

We have two large extinguishers bought from Amazon. One's in the kitchen and the other is in the bedroom. I try to make a point of checking each whenever in the trailer for any length of time.
