A tire and a rim question

It's been awhile since I've been on the MOC board. Last year the Monty just collected dust due to some unforeseen circumstances. But, this year she will be back on the road. That being said, here goes.

1. I have been intrigued by a tire made by Gladiator. The tire is a ST235/85 R16 G @ 110psi. I have not seen anything bad as far as reviews, and was wondering if anyone has any actual experience with them. Also, the diameter is over an inch more than the Marathon, so I wonder if that will be an issue.

2. As far as rims, mine are stamped #110. My question is that when running the GY Marathons, my TPMS would generally go up to around 90 psi during the summer. I assume running a 110 tire during the summer would increase psi to around 120 psi. Any concerns?

Thanks for listening.

Bob

I know nothing about Gladiator tires, but I'll be more than happy to do a little research. The size difference will be no problem at all, there is plenty of clearance for the taller tire. As to the 110 psi and temperature, yes, there will be an increase in pressure as the temperature rises and if it gets up to 120 or 125 the tires are designed to handle it. Depending on what your trailer weighs, you may not need to run them at 110 psi. I would recommend weighing the trailer and adjusting the psi to match the load.

Thanks Lonnie. If memory serves, you are the tire guru of the MOC. The tire in question is the QR25-TS or the QR35-TS.

Thanks again

I'd be concerned with a tire Lonnie isn't familiar with. I'd at least let others try them out before I ventured in. In my opinion, tires are too important to experiment with and while I would shop around I would go with a tested tire at a good price.
