When I back in my drive it has a dip and then a grade. I wouldn't even think of doing it without the slider. But that is really the only time I need it. If it was level I probably wouldn't need it.

I posted here two years ago for the same thing. I was making a sharp turn in a gas station lot and the ground dipped. Sounded just like a shotgun going off! This was on a trip from RI to FL. Amazingly, the gas station was next door to a windshield and glass replacement center. Two hours later and $350.00 bucks lighter we were back on our way. I too am a little gun shy when turning and backing now.

Level seems to be the key word here. I can turn around in a cul de sac by my house which I frequently do when parking at home with no problem. I was at Big Mac last summer, and paying attention to the wrong things, put the Monty against the back glass. Heard it and hit the brake just in time before it took out the window. Was lucky. Use the slider when I think I need it. Get spoiled because I don't need it often. It's usually dry when I go for it and won't slide. Keeping lube handy now.

We were at Big Mac last year and was backing our old F350 into the camp spot after a long day on the lake. I was talking to the DW and had my foot over the brake, but the truck stopped by itself. I got out and realized I punched the pin box into the tailgate (it was up)

I guess I can't win for loosing. Long beds and sliders wouldn't have helped me with that one. Of course I blamed it on the DW for distracting me

Do you have a short bed? I'm the one always pulling the monty and would hate to do that and have the hubby get upset. I have made u-turns with the monty. We have a long bed Dodge Ram 2500 diesel.

My shortbed Chevy will bump if I cut it too close. I got an almost new Reese slider with the trailer but if I was buying a new one I would probably go for the Superglide. It would sure take the worry out of how sharp to turn.

Ken, glad nobody hurt, windows are replaceable. I did the same thing with my Wilderness, I was backing into my storage spot, and had a little dip, my guide said everything looked fine, and so I figured I could get by without using my slider, you know the rest of the story. Fortunately, $350 later, and brushing the glass off of my sleeping pooch, we were back in business. I knew I had that slide for something. My camping neighbor here in Gulf Shores is getting ready to buy a new 2500HD and wondered how I liked my shortbed. I love my TV, but the next one will be a 3500 dually, longbed.

It doesn't seem to me that would be a problem with a LB unless the hitch was installed improperly. I find it amazing that when I have the hitch in maneuvering mode, I can actually jack knife the Monty into any space. It's such a small amount of space untilized, for such a major difference in movement ability.
