No power to outlets in half of camper

2019 MHC331RL

Power at Campground pedestal is good with 50 amp service
Batteries have checked good but don’t seem to be charging correctly on shore power
Inverter will run fridge until batteries get down

Biggest problem we have is no power to elec outlets in back half of camper

Have unplugged to try a reset but not worked

12volt lights all work

Just no power at outlets to fridge, micro, outlets in rear and both slides

Breakers not Tripped

GFI not tripped

Any ideas?

How did you check pedestal and breakers?
Breakers can be tripped and not show it?
try tripping main breaker. could be one side is tripped.
check power cord.
Check main power receptacle for loose wires
where is your surge/EMS plugged in at?

On the breakers, don’t just trip and reset, but fully push them beyond off and then back on. Some breakers will not reset if tripped and this is not done.

I agree, sounds like you have lost one leg. A volt/ohm meter will sure help in trouble shooting from the pedestal all the way in to the 5'er breaker panel.

T ester both legs of 50 amp at pole with volt meter. Both read 123 volts. Will check breakers again.

One additional note. I left our inverter on for about four hours after plugging in. Did I cause this?

I don't know about the inverter. Wouldn't think it would cause the problem. If by pole you mean the campground pedestal, get in the breaker box inside your 5'er and with your meter insure you have voltage on both legs. Half your breakers will be on one leg and half on the other. There are a whole lot of places between the pedestal and the panel inside the 5'er where power can be lost.

Vet4jdc: If you're going to check the terminations on the main inlet (female) socket, you'll need to remove it from the exterior wall. However, it's worth noting that before I removed the socket assembly from the back end of my 5er I could see evidence of arcing: brownish discoloration around the bad power prong. It's kind of subtle: any brown discoloration around a prong would be a good reason to remove the socket assembly, take it apart, and check the terminations. Check to make sure the wire insulation (on all 4 of the wires) is not under its respective clamp - the result of having been inserted too far into the clamp assembly. That's what I discovered...

Check both ends of your power cord and not just with a voltmeter. If you have a chance to borrow another cord to try, do that. You could have a bad connection in the cord that a meter won't pick up.

If you have a 30 amp dogbone adapter you could plug it into the pedestal to see if outlets come back on. If they do, then the problem is one dead leg at pedestal.

Thanks to this awesome forum, we are fixed. It was a bad connection on one leg of the 50 amp AT the camper connection where the cord plugs in. I had tried everything but not considered the plug on the camper. Thanks ti all.

I know you are all fixed up but its common for the wire connections in the panel to become loose over time or from the factory. Its a good idea (with all power disconnected) to remove the panel cover and tighten all the lugs every so often.

I had the same issue, I had power to all the front and rear outlets and to frig and microwave but no outlets in bathroom, rest of kitchen and LR side of kitchen wall. I was about to check if one leg of my power was out, and found the GFI outlet was tripped in the bathroom. That killed power to the middle section of my Montana 3710. Glad to find an easy fix without even having to step outside! This could be one item to check if you are having the same symptions.

You have to check each leg of the 50 amp service. Each leg should be + 120 vac Line 1 to neutral as well as + 120 vac Line 2 to neutral. Alternatively you should read + 240 vac from Line 1 to Line 2.
In the attached jpg the lines are referred to as "Hot 1 and Hot 2". You can also see these lines commonly referred to as L1 and L2.

I've read of this issue way too many times here as of late. I'm thinking I might as well do a preemptive strike and pull my incoming receptacle as well to ensure it is terminated correctly and all the connections are tight...

Lee-CI While checking the incoming receptacle you should check the plug on your power cord, trailer end. Several of us have found loose lugs there.
