Question 3120 RL NewBie Question 1 & 2 & 3

Fellow 5Vers,

No shore power connected - How long will battery last using the auto level, 3 slides, and lights to give family a tour?

Do I need to connect the Montana power cable to the truck (but not hitched) and leave the truck running to help with this process?

The hydraulic panel has a warning about using below 30 degrees. Today it was 28 degrees and the last slide timed out and we waited a few seconds and pushed the button again to complete the process. This also happened during repositioning of our landing gear. Is this normal?

Best Regards,

John & Kelly

If you only have one battery you stll should have no problem with a tour. What happens when you have the start and stop is that the thickening of the hydralic fluid due to the cold is causing the pump to draw enough current to cause the auto reset breaker to trip and then reset. Not unusual. Some of us have replaced the 50amp breaker with an 80 amp to eliminate that issue.

Well John, as you can see there is quicker knowledge on MOC than your dealer. On my 305RL if the battery is low during leveling if will throw less codes if I leave the pigtail hooked to truck.

It depends on the type and quantity of battery(s) you have. Batteries are dealer installed, usually one or two.

Even if you have only one battery, you are good for a couple days use if you don't go crazy using power. Keep in mind, your unit will draw current even when it is in storage unless you disconnect the battery(s). The battery cut off switch does not kill all loads. If you do not have shore power in storage and you do not disconnect the battery(s), you will return to find them dead.

The hydraulic issue is normal. Mine did it a couple days ago when I was trying to run my jacks when it was 25 degrees. I have the 80A breaker and it still tripped.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new Montana. We have a similar floor plan, but the 2017 version.

When you get a moment, fill in some details on your signature; that will help out when you ask questions.
