It finally happened....water

Will, I finally got lucky and got water in my fuel. I had to change out my filters twice over 200 miles. Thank goodness I was able to still drive down I-95 until I could find a place to pull into. I use the Cat filter and not the regular chevy filter. Lucky for me I had several extra filters....have now ordered more

Lucky for me the tank was nearly empty and with an additive I seem to be doing well.....we'll see thursday when we drive across the state of florida.

so when you lose power you can figure it is a fuel/fuel filter issue.

If you got water in your fuel and you didn’t drain your tank it’s still there. It’s just mixed in with the fuel so you don’t see it but it’s still there. Your high pressure fuel pump will know it’s there. If it causes your HPFP to rust it will ruin it at the cost of thousands of dollars damage. I WOULD drain the tank.

I would also drain it. I've read horror stories $$$$ about water in the Fords. I added an extra filter/water separator to mine. What brand of truck?

You need to drain the full tank to get the water out of it water is heaver then the full and
will sit in the bottom of the tank until you get low on full and it get sucked up again and does more damage mite not be so lucky next time good luck.

Absolutely right! Those pumps are unforgiving.

What the problem is that pump operates at up to 25000 PSI or more if it’s a newer truck. It is extremely fragile and built to extremely tight tolerances and either dirt or water will ruin it. Dirt because that will wear it out and water because water isn’t a lubricant.
