Residential Toilet/bypassing black tank?
We full time in our RV but do not move often. Has anyone bypassed the black tank and just installed a residential toilet? If so what all was involved. Tried a search but came up empty. Thanks

Never seen or heard of it done. That would pretty much preclude stopping to use the facilities when you are on the road or spending the night in a rest area or Walmart lot. Depending on how your plumbing runs you also might have to reconfigure that to keep things from damming up along the way.

The park model rv's use regular toilets with moderate angles on the pipe to flush the processed food products. Couple of folks that live fulltime 365 in our florida park have done it...but they don't tow and they had a plumber add plumbing dropping out the bottom of the rv. My guess is the montana floor wouldn't handle the extra weight of the tank, even if it were empty when towing. You would need to change out the flange the toilet sits on, use the wax rings, beef up the flooring a bunch, have a sanitary wye cut into the existing three inch pipe...IF there is room within the belly to do that. I have my doubts that using any thing other than residential fittings and pipe would result in very poor flushing. John

We have a residential toilet in our Park Model permanent on our site. We have a holding tank which is required by our Campground so be careful their could other Campgrounds that require a holding tank. I think the negatives far out way the positive's then their is resale. I would go with the high rise Dometic

Just switched to a Dometic 310 and feel it is great for the application and no need to make major alterations.

Thanks for the responses. I figured would not be an easy task. Will stick with my initial plan to change valves to electric for draining the tanks. Having it so my wife, when I am gone, doesn't have to go outside to open valves when tanks get full will hopefully keep things flowing good.
