Toliet Removal/Replacement too?

Because we are going to replace the vinyl flooring in the kitchen area of the Montana we thought that we should do the bathroom and the small vinyl by the shower so that it all matches. My question is I never removed the toilet before, looks simple, two bolts and the water connection. Am I missing anything? The Montana is going to have its 10 year birthday this year and performed so well on our recent Alaska trip, we thought about an updated toilet. Any suggestions on the various Dometic lines? It will be porcelain for sure. When I take off the old toilet we will remove the old vinyl and then replace with the new flooring. When you reinstall are there any little secrets to do a good job? If we decide to keep the old toilet is there a seal that needs to be replaced between the toilet and the tank pipe? Any other prep to be aware off?

Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated!

You're right on track. Be sure to use a new seal when reinstalling old or installing new toilet. If I was in need of a new toilet now it would be the Dometic 320 or the cheaper Dometic 310.

For replacement there are several variables to be considered. I need to replace mine, a Aqua Magic Style II, which is defined as an entry level. I like the Dometic 320. I was this morning looking at the specs for a standard height Dometic 320, and toilet height is such that the bathroom Linen cabinet door on our unit is exactly the same height and would hit the back of the toilet preventing opening the door. I either have to shave the bottom of the door or raise the door just a hair. Or I have to find another model that would fit, and I have not been able to do that without going to the low rise model which we don't want. Additionally, the water line connection location will not match the water line location in the fiver and I will have to do a bit of rework of the plumbing to make it work. Also, some older toilets have a four bolt or angled 2 bolt mounting pattern requiring a mounting adapter kit for the toilet flange. After ten years, your mounting bolts may well be rusted in place, requiring cutting them off. Nothing particularly complicated, but some things to be aware of. Agree with you that if I was going to pull a ten year old toilet to replace the flooring, I would install a new replacement toilet. Good luck with your project.

I put a Dometic 310 in our previous Montana and we really liked it a lot. Very easy switch out, takes about 15 minutes. If we ever have troubles with the one in our new Montana I will go with the 310.

When our 2 year old foot pedal/valve broke we went out and purchased a Dometic 310 that same day and replaced in within 15 - 20 minutes.

Much preferred over the Aqua Magic. Can't go wrong with the 310 or 320.

We replaced our Aqua Magic style II(with exploding foot pedal) with a Dometic 320. Easy install. Used the same floor flange, bolts were located in the same position but the water supply connection was a little off. I used a flexible water line with 'hand tighten' connectors with rubber washers and installed a water shutoff valve inline just above the floor in case the toilet ever needed repair we wouldn't need to shutoff the water for the entire trailer. Also had to raise the cabinet door behind the toilet 1/4" by repositioning the hinges on the door. It now clears the top of the toilet by about 1/8". It did make for a very small gap at the bottom of the door and cabinet opening but it's only noticeable if you're on the floor. So I guess only the dog would notice it and so far, it's ok with her.

Hi Guys: I replaced the Aquamagic II with the Dometic 310 in our 2013 Montana 3800. I also put in a shut off valve just behind the toilet. We are into our 9th year full timing and it was always a pain to shut off all the H2O to fix a part in the toilet. Took 30 minutes.
Yes we did have the exploding flush bar.

What is the size/diameter of the water pipe going to the toilet. I ask because it is a good time to insert a shutoff valve to isolate the toilet if ever required.

If I understand your question correctly, 1/2 thread, and was the same both for the Aqua Magic I replaced, and the Dometic 320 I installed.
