Learned something today!!!!
I was out working on Monte getting ready for another vacation... for the wife. I had the batteries out and was cleaning the front compartment. I decided to turn the Air Conditioner on as it was pretty humid outside. Turned it on and nothing happens. I was plugged in to a 30A plug that I have in my shop. I was thinking as long as I had 110V, I should be good to go on the air conditioner. Not so. You have to have a battery hooked up for the air to run. Must be something in the switch that needs 12v. Just a little info for anyone that might run into this someday...JB

I think it is the thermostat that needs 12V.

I agree with Rich. The thermostat is 12v because it also controls the heater which operates on 12v. I had never thought about the A/C not working without the battery and glad you posted the topic.

I have mine pluged in to 50 Amp and the Batt turned off at the control box everything in mine works, I thought the converter took care of that issue.

I'm curious as to how this topic develops. I know that many in MOC have upgraded their thermostats to Double A battery operated Hunters (or similar); therefore 12v source was not used. Another curiosity with our rigs.

The OEM thermostat uses 12v. When changing over to a Hunter you don't connect the hot wire to the new thermostat. At least that was true when we made that change on our 2003 Montana. I'm not sure the Hunter would wire up to the new thermostats?
