Adding Backup Camera Bracket

Hi,

I am going to be adding a Backup Camera bracket. I have a couple of questions.

What are the best type of screws to use?
What type of sealant for the screws?

Thanks

Camera bracket install

Jeff, When I installed my rear camera I used a stainless steel pan head sheet metal screw. I pre drilled the holes and used a good quality 100% silicone, applied to the threads. Hand tighten only as a drill might over do it and strip out the pre drilled holes.

Thanks Keith. I looked at what the factory did and replicated it. I pre-drilled the holes and ran them in by hand. Now I know what the DW is doing back there when I am backing up.

Referencing your last sentence only...You mean that Ford doesn't have the Highly Acclaimed Back-up assist installed on it?( I`ve seen it advertised only on TV,no clue if/how it works.)

Back up camera

Jeff, You are more than welcome. One of the easier mods I have done. I did stress a bit over drilling the holes in my rear fiberglass cap, but really for no reason.

Regards, Keith

The Backup assist is not offered on SDs yet. It will not work on a 5th wheel. However, the backup Camera integrated into the large display is great.

Drilling into the camper was the stressful part.

Oh and the 360 view sure does make that CCLB a lot shorter!!!
