It is finally that time of year again

Vacation!! Departing the hills of WV to travel southward for a two week adventure. Will be staying at Coastal Ga RV Resort in Brunswick, Ga for five nights. Planning a day trip to Jekyll Island to explore the 20 or miles of paved bike trails and other than that, the schedule is open. Plan to bike to the Jekyll Island Campground to investigate possibility of a return trip for Thanksgiving. Any advice on places to see and things to do around Brunswick will be appreciated. Then will be leaving the heat of Ga (next weeks weather forecast shows Heat Indexes above 115!) and heading further south to our favorite campground at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in the panhandle of Florida for 7 nights. Looks like extended forecast there will provide some measure of cooling since the Heat Index there is only forecasted to be around 110!! DW will be in heaven and DH will be grumpy, grouchy and having a good?? time in the heat. Thank goodness for a strong fan placed strategically (blowing directly at me!) beneath the awning. Will return to the hills on August 2 in advance of DW's fifth grade teaching position that starts the next day. Looking forward to the break.

Enjoy your well deserved vacation. We are enjoying the "warm welcome" at the CPRR, with high temps and humidity. Back home Sunday with 80's and 18% humidity and no mosquitos. You enjoy that 110 degree heat index and have fun.

Had some great times on Jekyll last winter. Plenty of great views and some good places to eat. If you like history and old rich folks homes, take the tour from the chamber of commerce office, and for sure visit the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. For good food at reasonable prices try the Driftwood Bistro. Hope you have as much fun as we did.

Although the MOC is semi secured by requiring user name and password ... In today's world of communications technology I think I'd just say we're head out on vacation this summer without any timeframe divulged ... just saying. Enjoy hitting the road ...

I would never do this on Facebook (DW does not even post pictures until we return), but even with the MOC it can be questionable, fortunately, daughter will be at home due to her work schedule and our security system allows us to monitor the inside and outside of the house at will and we get notifications if a door or window opens as well. Understand your reasoning completely, but fortunately, we reside in a fairly secure area with City Police, County Sheriff and the State Police all having offices within two blocks of the house. But, there are some really stupid and desperate people out there though!

While you are down there I would highly recommend Hunting Island State park. There are about 200 sites and several miles of beautiful flat flat beaches that only the campers have access to.

We used to live in that area. Fernandina Beach in Florida and Fort Clinch would make a nice day trip. If rock shrimp is in season definitely treat yourselves to a lunch or dinner out for fried rock shrimp. The water down there is sulfur, so if you can don't put any of it in your tanks. Take the bug repellent and some Skin So Soft for the sand gnats, deer flies, and other annoying flies. And there's always the outlet mall! :-)

We stayed at the Brunswick campground last year. Loved it. If Seafood is on your mind Skippers in Darien, GA is a great place to eat. Enjoy a well deserved vacation.

Sounds like a great and well planned vacation. Wish you were coming a little further south in Florida, would welcome you to our area, Inverness, and am sure a relaxing Sunday after our Church Service would be wonderful. By watching your posts, I am sure you would enjoy our Preacher, maybe some other time you can venture down this way. Have a safe and wonderful vacation. Happy Trails, Steve and Susie
