Ads on website before you log in

Hello
I find the ads that support the page/website that show up before we sign up are sometimes offensive. Ads that have scantally clad women with “we won’t tell” as a buy line do not seem suitable for our Montana RV site and if I was deciding to join the group and these ads popped up I would not have joined.
There must be a way to not have these times of ads representing all of us?

I used to advertise in a little magazine Precision Shooting. The editor Dave Brennon had one strict rule for has writers you do not ever say anything bad about his advertisers they are the guys that pay the bills.
I can only imagine what Dave would have told someone that ask if they could get the magazine without any ads in it. I know as an advertiser I wouldn’t have been happy.

I have to agree with Travelin Gran.
The adds recently have a disturbing overtone.
They used to NOT be any adds like this.
What has happened to "RV Life" , the owners of this and MANY other RV related forums and webpages???

I NEVER see ads on ANY of the RV Life Pro forum sites. None!

Why? Because I use Brave as my web browser (Click here) and then I added Duck Duck Go as my search engine (Click here.) and I never see ads.

If you are using any Microsoft product (Edge, Google), you are going to get the ads. This web site doesn't control those ads... Microsoft does. And the ads are populated based on patterns of your internet usage.

Brave and Duck Duck do not store cookies, do not keep a history, and delete everything and everywhere you've been on every time you close the browser.

The only down side is, because it deletes cookies and history automatically, every time you come back to this and other web site, you have to log in again. But you can "save" your user name and password and simply click and it populates automatically.

Sometimes I attempt to read these forums from my cell phone. I do not have Brave or Duck Duck installed on it. I also never "log in" on my phone either. And I am overwhelmed at the advertisements and ads that appear everywhere. It's awful.

I also have Edge on my laptop. When I attempt to access this forum (and others) with Edge, it's chocked full of ads.

If you REALLY want to go ad free, simply down-load Brave on your computer and start using it. Then go to DuckDuckGo and save it as your primary search engine. You'll not see any ads.

Microsoft is horrible. It's pushing their agendas on everyone who uses it. There are better options available if you stop thinking that Microsoft is the ONLY software your computer can use.

I use firefox on my computer and never log out of the MOC forum. When I open this site I am already logged in, both on the computer and on my phone. And I never see those pre-login ads.

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that ads are driven by browsing history? Cookies are stored and drive ads. I'm constantly getting ads from items I search. Right now it's living room furniture. Sometimes legit ads redirect to inappropriate content. Clear your cache in your browser. I'm sure RV Life isn't soliciting inappropriate content.

What ads before logon are you referring to? In the screen shot below, there are two that I see. The box in the middle right side and the one at the bottom. Neither appear offensive but there may be others I haven't seen.

I suspect the web site owners subscribe to some type of advertising service and have no control over the ads presented. The advertising technology is so intertwined with internet activity such that ads are tailored for you based on your history using a web browser, Google, Siri, Alexa, and more.

Like BB_TX, I stay logged on all the time and I use Adblock Plus. I never see ads. Brave and Duck Duck Go are other alternative but do your research before you go.

Firefox browser and AdBlock Plus. AdBlock Plus works so well that I sometimes have to disable the extension to have full functionality on specific sites.

I have Duck Duck Go as a Search engine and Browser. Have had them for years.
However I do use Google Chrome for viewing This forum. When you login, it does give you the option to "save login". When I check this option and return later, no adds and it takes me right in.
I think the problem is when I clear catch, cookies, free up memory etc (routine maintenance), next time I open this forum, before I login, voila.

Ghostery, adblock + and VPN here. I never see any adds on this site. Only for other RV articles.

Heck, every time I watch the evening news some featured story offends me now days. Don't let the small potatoes ruin your stew. That being said, Adblock+ works well for me on a daily basis.

Ads are served up by an ad network and we don't have much control. Everyone sees different ads and the mix is based on your location, browsing history or even key words on the page.

Folks who are logged in see fewer ads. We all hate ads but they help keep the lights on.

I don’t mind the adds. Beats me having to pay for this site. And heck I might see something I’m interested in.

Talking

I guess I haven't been offended because I never look at the ads. If you ignore them it's not an issue.
