Just picked up the Truck after it received its 64K scheduled maint
Cost was 400.00 a bit of it picked up by the Ford ESP. The 64K maint is a in depth maint procedure. These diesels use a lot of oil and the Filters are not cheap. We have what translates to nearly 70% of brake left. I am easy on brakes something I learned from my Dad driving company big trucks decades ago. Front tires wearing evenly so front end is good.

We noted some small spots of liquid on the pavers and I could not determine where it was coming from. Turned out to be radiator hose bottom only that had developed a leak around the clamp. Issues kind of common on that generation of Ford truck. Don't know how they did it but they got the ESP to pay some of the cost. Replaced the entire unit. Replaced the windshield wiper blades as they were the original.

Our ESP expires in August and I inquired on a extension of the contract. They came out a inspected the truck..Low milage, all scheduled maint done by Ford and on record. Truck is very clean. They said not a problem and I could extend for up to 3 years on any plan I wanted. I was looking for a excuse to get a 2015 truck..no luck.

Glad to hear this one is working out for you Rich. Wish my 2010 F350 King Ranch would have had the same luck....loved the truck, but it was a lemon. I hope the next 64k miles are just as easy for you.

Yes Dave this is a good truck. The radiator hose is the first failure of anything on the truck. The MPG on these 6.4's was not known to be great but we get steady 10 or better towing the Montana's and 15/16 solo. We have not experienced the problems other 6.4L owners have. Luck of the draw.....

Hey, if you don't mind my asking, what price did they quote you on the re-up of ESP? I've only got a bit over 60K on mine, and have about 20 months left. I bought the super dooper level one (?) and have 0 deductible.

Good report Rich thanks. I replaced both of my hoses when I removed the EGR. The old hoses only have one O ring while the new ones have two. I have had zero trouble with my 6.4 and expect many more trouble free miles for several years.

Yes Rich these hoses DO give problems. The radiators aren't much better. Not many of them enjoy a long life. Keep a check for coolant on the left side of it.

Wish I could say the same. Yes we had the radiator hose. Yes we had the differential problem. Yes we had the water separator problem. Yes we had the turbo problem. Yes we had the injectors and injector pump problem. Just to name a few. This will be our last Ford.

We had the good radiator on the Ford that was checked early on. I just recalled that the top hose assembly was also replaced under warranty in the first year. Dennis your truck has been a nightmare. I would like to know how one truck can be trouble free and another a nightmare.

Ford must be using the same radiator hoses. At about 35,000 my lower one started leaking.

I have been one of the lucky ones so far I guess...at 53k no problems with anything so far...but we have had troubles with the 2008s in the maintenance dept at work...2 in the shop constantly and 3 never in the shop...go figure...all purchased together...I would love to have 6.7...I think...lol...

It is a mystery on why some have no problems and others do. I am not at all handy with mechanical things and know little about trucks and cars. Ford has done all the scheduled maintenance at the required intervals. We drive it easy and tow at 62/65 mph. It has never been hand waxed although I do use the liquid wax/wash from time to time. It has never been under cover but has never seen Snow,Ice, road salt, etc. When solo I run the speed limit but we do not solo often.. We have gone through one set(6 tires) Ouch.. This has been a good truck. My last ford was a good truck ,My Chevy truck was good truck..

I wish all the 2008 Ford owners the best of luck. I was one of the unlucky ones. At 40K miles Ford had my truck close to a month. They changed my turbo once and was in the process of changing it a second time when they finally realized via (Technical Service Bulletin) the noise was being caused by a faulty heater core inlet hose. Go figure. I have a mechanical background and had a hard time believing what they were saying so I made them prove it to me before I drove the truck home. Sure enough the mechanic made me a believer. All the time I spent talking with the service rep I learned that the oil field company Halliburton has a fleet of 2008's and they are constantly in the shop for repairs. Turbo issues were not common but injector pump failures were. He also informed me that whenever a turbo or injector pump needs to be replaced the entire cab of the truck has to be lifted off the frame. Without a warranty your looking at $800.00 in labor lifting the cab just so they can begin repairs. The turbo fiasco was one thing and covered under warranty but when the service rep told me I needed to come up with $180.00 for replacement cost and labor for the new hose I was just floored. He kindly explained the hose and labor were not covered under warranty. I reluctantly paid their fee and contacted Ford customer care when I got home. I explained that I was without my truck twice for close to a month and never asked for replacement transportation that my warranty allowed for. They showed no sympathy and denied a refund. I'm 53 years old and have been a ford truck, SUV and car owner most of my life but that has all changed. Two week later my F350 was sold and I now own a GMC.

We had our truck repaired in Florida because our dealers in Michigan said nothing wrong. Refused to work on it except to charge us for unnecessary repairs. Yes they had to lift the cab off the truck to work on it. And the final bill was in the neighborhood of $12,000. We have the premium ESP and Ford fought us on the repairs and did not want to own up to their responsibility. Took them almost two weeks to authorize repairs. Still not sure it's running right yet.

These high pressure fuel pumps whether from Ford GM or Dodge are very fragile. If they get water or dirt in them they are history. When the HPFP goes it takes all of the injectors with it. These pumps operate at up to 27000 psi and it takes near nothing to ruin them. If they have evidence the pump had water or dirt in all the manufactures say it was abuse and will not cover under any warranty. If you can prove where the dirty fuel came from the oil co will sometimes cover the loss or sometimes your insurance co will cover the loss.
