Direclink Brake Controller

Just wondering if anyone has tried the "Direclink brake controller" and what your feelings are about it?

I've never heard of it sorry. Do you know my buddy Randy Melvin of Bull Mountain Rifle there in Billings?

Sorry. I don't know Randy, there are a lot of gun dealers here and I don't use Bull Mountain but will have to check it out. Yes I think that this brake controller is quite new. It has lots of bells and whistles but still I want to know from someone who has one if it does what they claim it will do. If so it would revolutionize the electric brake controllers. Here is the link to check it out:

Anybody out there have an update for this thread? I just bought one of these to replace my Prodigy P2, which i've hated since my old trailer. Unfortunately Maxbrake is no longer being sold so I figure this will be my best bet. Nothing like towing for the first time with a new controller. Wish I was out in the sticks to give it a true test w/o anybody around. Not so lucky out here in Southern Ca. There's always somebody crawling up my bumper.

It's something new and while the initial reviews are good, I'll be giving it some time before I consider it. Right now I'm pretty happy with the performance of my disk brakes and current controller.

I read up in the Directlink. The. $349.00 avg MSRP makes it double what my P 3 cost on last truck. It appears to be superior unit in some ways, but reports of unit being, and I quote "grabby" at low speeds was only negative review. My built in Ford controller works great, and so did my old P3. Can't put a price on safety, but unless I had a more sophisticated trailer braking system, I would not bother spending the extra money! PS I did read something about Directlink utilizing the same "port" as Truck Engine Tuner! Might be an issue if you have older truck and have or want it chipped.

Took the Monty out for a tow with the new Direclink. I'd like to give a glowing review but about 3 miles into my trip my $350 Yakima bike rack decided to fold down on the freeway. Thankfully a car next to me flagged me down. Destroyed two wheels and scratched the heck out of the bike. So much for Yakima. The rest of the 10 miles all I could think about is the bikes on the back. Not a lot of focus on comparing the Direclink to my Prodigy P2.

What I can recall is the Direclink is an improvement over the P2 but certainly not night and day. It's a step up maybe worth the extra cash, maybe not. I'll need more seat time to determine that. One nice feature is I can set the controller to a different power setting for slower speed driving. I'll have a better idea of its value when I don't have to stress about something else.

Sounds like you need to call Thule about fixing the bike.
