Hitch Storage

I am not sure where to post this question, I think this is as close as I can get.
I have read that some folks leave their hitch attached to the pin of their 5er and thus use their tow vehicle for other purposes. Is this an acceptable storage method? I am wondering if it is in any way bad for the hitch or the pin.
Thanks in advance.

I think most agree that there is no problem to do that.
Some voiced the opinion that it may make theft easier, so if you could lock it on, do so. The hitch and pin are so heavy duty, it should be no problem at all.

I leave it hangin' (locked) every winter when I store the 5er. No adverse results. Nice to have it out of the truck and not have to wrestle it out of the way when you need to haul, plus find another place to store it if you do.

Yep can do it without any problem (so far). I also leave it in the truck until I have a reason to take it out. Hook up and take out, couple of minutes max. Why bother with it until you need to?
