Credit Card Fuel
I don't like to give my credit card to a cashier at a fuel stop, while I pump fuel. Heard a suggestion that you give them your drivers license instead, then take the credit card in when you pay, and get your license back. That would relieve my anxiety re. credit card security. What do you do?

That sounds like a good idea, if the station would go along with it.

I give them my drivers license. Haven't had any problems doing that way.

Recently I refused to fill up at Love's because they required a credit card before filling up and I did not have that much cash. Discussion was enough it was brought to the store manager's attention. Shortly after that card readers were installed at the pumps. They lost a $75 sale that day as I went down the street to the next station.

My dear wife stands there with the credit card. Seems to satisfy the shops and me. I pump the diesel.

This is what is happening in todays society. A few has really messed it up for the majority. Don't leave the C C with the cashier. License sounds better as long it dose not have your SS number on it.

I just swipe mine at the pump. Charlie ... several bad apples driving off without paying have brought on this growing requirement of a credit card. Quick Trips in my area won't pump unless you prepay or swipe the card. Now if I could only figure out just how much to prepay ....

When towing the coach I use the commercial truck side RV pumps. If they don't take credit card at the pump, I fuel up first then go in a pay. For those stations that want a "deposit" before fueling I use my drivers license. I also do not feel comfortable letting my credit card out of my sight.

That's what we do, too.
Sometimes, if there is a big discount for cash, we'll take the credit card back and give them real money.

I did notice in a station in Nevada a sign in the truckers section that said "pick up your drivers license here" We always use a credit card for fuel and never had a problem of any kind.
