Dish Tailgater Pro?

Was using my Montana this weekend and could not get Dish to connect with the satellites. After spending time on the phone with Dish they believe it is an antenna issue.

I went on King antennas site and notice they sell refurb antennas. Are failure of these units common? Any way to test one?

Based on reading this Forum - the satellite antenna issues are cause by the OEM low quality splitters. For the first two years I had my RV, I simply ran the 50’ coax that came with my Dish Tailgater thru a nearby window to the back of the Wally black box. DW never liked the look of dangling coax across the entertainment center so I rigged up a permanent 6’ pigtail to the bottom of the slide and I hook my tailgater to that. Works great.

I tried connecting direct to the receiver. I am not getting the orange blinking light that usually is on. I do see a tiny green light.

FYI, Dish Tailgater Pro King ONLY receives WESTERN arc satellites.
IF you travel a lot in the north east it can be difficult to get a good line of sight to the western arc satellites. Many times they are in the tree line.
We went to Bar Harbor Maine, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and could only receive a few higher # channels.
If you travel much in the north east get the
Satellite dish Winegard Pathway X2

Winegard Pathway X2 PA6002R Satellite TV Antenna and DISH Wally Receiver Bundle (Dual Arc, 2 TV Viewing) https://a.co/d/hwXFPJx

It can receive BOTH eastern and western arc Dish satellites.

Download the Winegard app. You can use it to see the satellites in the sky to help aim the dish (avoid trees etc.).
Western satellites: -110, -119, -129
Eastern satellites: -61, -72, -77

I have a King tailgater pro. So far no problems. It even works connected to the keytv and the multiplexers. I use 50' of cable and whatever amount of cable in the trailer and have no problem powering the sat dish.

Last summer I spoke with Dish. At least at that time, the satellite 129 was shut down - I think it is permanent. Unfortunately my receiver says it is not completely connected every time and I have to just tell it to continue anyway.

That sounds right. Every time I start mine I get the message “not all satellites found”. but all channels seem to be working.

I had been getting that message but receiving all channels too. Now the dish is not moving or trying to find the satellites.

I’ve had a couple dishes go bad. They quit moving. If they is the case just go buy a new one.

That's what I am thinking Lynwood. I notice on King's site they stock refurb units. I figure if they get enough returns to stock refurbs that might be a clue.

All electronic manufactures have a referb department. Even Winegard.

I have Wingard 360 and connect 1000 but I went with King because of their ratings and support. I also like the smoked cover. I can see the dish searching and locking onto a sat. I can also see the status LED's on the board.

Spoke with King today. They were very helpful. They identified an actuator that had gotten out of position. Relocated it correctly and seem to be operational.

It is a little blue part about the size of half of a C-battery. You have to remove the cover. It is held in a keyhole slot by spring pressure. It is what causes the carriage to rotate the dish.

Yes, Dish told me that too. They said they combined the 129 channels with the 119, so you now get everything on 119 and 110. Like you said, just tell it to connect anyway.

Went thru a similar thing before. I run the cable direct to tv and one time just couldn’t connect. They told me to switch out the cable as sometimes just needs a different cable. This worked and I now run 2 cables and alternate connections.

Nice to learn of 129 being shut down. You would have thought Dish o King would have told us. I have been chasing that issue for months as I did just yesterday, knowing I had a clear shot at all three and only getting 110 and 119.

I just recently signed up for Dish Outdoors and has a heck of a time getting my Tailgater to work. I had try o connect my satellite dish directly to the Walley for it to work. Don’t hook up to the rigs Sat connection. I hope this works for you.
