Glenn this reminds me of an incident that happened years ago when I was in the National Guard. While in front of the armory one afternoon, along comes this guy pulling a large boat on a tandem axel trailer with hinged tounge. In the highway was a bump where the concrete sections joined and when he crossed it the tounge came loose from the ball (no safety chain). The trailer tracked right down the highway with the hinged tounge striking the surface every few feet sending sparks everywhere. It coasted about a hundred yards coming to a stop with left side tires on the pavement and the rights on the shoulder. There was not a scratch on the boat or trailer anywhere except the tounge. Needless to say it was a very relieved fellow who returned about 15 minutes later. He had gone about 5 miles before discovering the missing craft.
