Battery charger?
I have a 2006 2950 RL. Purchased new in 06. My question; is there a dc battery charger somewhere in the system of this rig. I have had many areas disassembled over the years, but have never come across the charger or inverter. Anybody with info on this would be appreciated. Jim

You won't have an inverter, those are only on models that came with a residential refrigerator. You will have a converter that will charge the batteries. On my 2010 it was screwed to the floor under the stairs, but you'll probably have to look for it. It's most likely somewhere near the power panel behind the wall in the basement.

Your "power box" with the breakers and the 12 volt automotive fuses IS your converter. It converts AC (household) 120 volt to DC 12 volt and powers everything 12 volt in your camper. In addition, it charges your camper house battery.
An inverter changes the 12 volt (battery) to 120 volt AC (household) electricity. You use an "inverter" when you are not plugged into shore power and you want to power your household electronic items from your battery. Sometimes inverters are installed to power more than just the residential refrigerator from the battery. If you had an "inverter" it would not be hidden, as you need to choose to turn it on and off and when.

Dutchman, you're correct about newer units, but the older units including our 2010 2955RL used a stand-a-lone converter. Ours was about midway between the rear basement bulkhead and our power panel, screwed to the floor.

4771 is correct. I had a 2006 2980 model and the converter was near where he said.

Most probably, that 2006 still has the IOTA DLS 45 converter. As said before it is a stand alone box behind the stairs.
More importantly, it is *NOT* a smart 4 stage charger. But it can be made so by the addition of an IOTA Smart IQ module. They used to be about $25 and are a simple telephone-like plug in.. Definitely a worthwhile investment.
