I got my Mattress from Mattress Insider. They specialize in all types of Mattresses, RV, Truck sleepers, sofa beds, residential and they make custom sizes with radius and non radius corners. They also carry toppers, bedding and linens. I had a coolmax memory foam custom size king made for my RV about 4 years ago. I just checked their website and they have really expanded the mattress type that they now carry and can make. When I bought mine there were only a few choices. Here is the link to their website:

King bed

We changed ours from king to queen to get more room on each side of bed easier to turn around and all. It's easy to do

We had the dealer keep the king that came with our unit and had them cut down the platform so a queen would fit. We now have a Sleep Number in our unit and will not have anything else. We store the compressor under the bed and I've cut a small hole in the side board and run the cord to the nearest outlet. We just unplug it when we retract the slide and off we go. We own three of these mattresses and will not go back to a standard mattress or foam ever again.

I just ordered a 8" Natural latex 72"x80" from Mattress Insider $798.00 delivered. Thanks for the tip. Had been looking for a good mattress @ a great price, hoping this is a good one.

Are there any issues with the slide moving the heavier weight? Ours came with a very lightweight but REALLY uncomfortable mattress, we are looking at a new one that weighs about 50 lbs

I have a friend who sells and makes mattress. He owns a furniture store and buys expensive mattresses and cuts them open to see what is inside of them. If you ever cut a $3000 mattress open you wouldn’t believe what is in it. You already have the cheap springs in them. What you don’t have to make a great mattress is the top. Get a 4 inch natural latex foam top and you will wind up with a very comfortable mattress or do like someone else here did and get a natural latex foam mattress. They are all I sleep on. They never sagg like all other foam does. I like a soft top on them. They are heavy but all weight supports you with pressure points.

I found a used r5 king size Sleep Number bed and bought it cheap. Spent $45 to have the cover cleaned and sanitized and replaced our mattress. We love the new mattress as the DW likes a soft bed while my back needs a very firm mattress. Sleeping on the number bed in the 5er convinced us to go with a Personal Comfort number bed at home to replace a foam bed that was killing my back. I wish we had done this years ago. My settings are twice what the DW finds comfortable.

As of this writing there have been no problems. We are currently wintering out west and have been using the camper non stop for a couple of months already. I am assuming that with the added weight there will be some additional wear. However, the substantial increase in comfort and usability will, offset the eventual cost of motor/gear replacement. I didn’t do this, but it might be a good idea to call Lippert and check the weight rating for the Schwintek slide mechanism. The Tempur-Pedic king that I installed weighs approximately 90 pounds. The old bed weighed about 20-30.

It is not hard to put 30-50 lbs of stuff under the bed. Getting a figure of what the slide can handle would be a good idea

Hi,

we are looking now also into different mattress options.
Does anyone have experiences with Wildernesss RV Mattress in Murfreesboro, TN? https://wildernessrvmattress.com/collections/mattresses

We took out our OEM king mattress and replaced with an inexpensive 8" queen Zinus mattress from Amazon. Then we put on the 3" mattress topper. More floor space, sleep well.

The king mattress came out fairly easily. It was also a foam mattress and flexed as needed to remove it. I still have it...anyone need one (it's still wrapped in plastic)?

We pulled out our king, cut down the platform, added some 1x1" aluminum angle crossways for additional support to the platform.....
bought a 10" foam queen mattress in a box... love it
easier to make the bed, more room to move around the sides, etc.....
