You Guys have scared me just enough. . .

I pulled the trigger and purchased the Goodyear G614 from http://simpletire.com/goodyear-lt235...39229099-tires

A friend of mine purchased a new 2013 Montana a couple weeks after we purchased ours. He had less that 1500 miles on it and had a Marathon exploded while driving 45 mph. It caused $7800 in damage. Luckily Goodyear is paying for the damages, BUT they are putting the Marathons back on his Monty.

Yesterday I removed my Marathons and had the G614s mounted. OMG! What a difference in the construction. The G614 are 11 lbs heavier and so beefy.

I am glad I listened to all of you guys. I will feel much better when traveling down the road.

We are currently traveling again and have had a couple minor issues (leaky kitchen faucet and clothes rod fell), but one thing I don't worry about is my new G614 tires failing. Worth every dime!

Cost of the 614s = expensive. Cost of the security and worry-free driving = Priceless! There may well be other alternatives, but with over three years of trouble free travels (at an average speed that I will not mention, but I will say it is above the speed rating of the ST tires), I am very, very satisfied with this brand of tire that actually says "Made in U.S.A." right on the sidewall!

Glad to hear that you have joined the "better tires crowd". Yes, better tires are more expensive, but I figure that I will have less worries, less chances of being killed changing a tire beside the road, less gray air...and...I get the benefit of a much smoother tow with a lot less tire heat than I had with the Marathons. This has to translate to less chance of any structure damage to the monty. John

If your like us you'll notice the rig pulls better with them. Is it just mental, who cares as long as we're happy. Enjoy the new tires!

A friend of mine just bought a 2010 3400 and is thinking of putting Michelin tires on it. Do they make a tire with enough capacity in a Michelin tire?

Good that you were pro-active. Too many of us have waited too long to make the change. Your friend should be reading the posts on this and other forums. Can't he replace with 614's and pay the difference?

He tried but they would not agree. They are replacing all the tires but I think that is fruitless.

Your friends rig is borderline. At 12500 lbs dry weight, depending on how big a pack rat he is he may be over the weights. His trailer should have 7k lb axles too but knowing Keystone who knows lol lol. If I were him I would cough up the extra and get the 614's. That's just too close for comfort. I know LT tires have some cushion but go with the 614's especially if he does have 7k axles. I would leave LT tires for rigs below 13k lbs gw...
