G614 tire pressure
Just had a discussion with the manager of an RV shop (not keystone) about tires. I told him that the tag on the side of our Big Sky says that the G614's should carry 110 pounds pressure. His opinion is that no RV tire of any kind is safe at that high a pressure. I checked the side walls of the tires and could not find a pressure with my squinty old eyes. So with that I'll throw it out for your opinions. What say you?

Max pressure is 110 psi cold for the 614's. Load inflation tables are used by many to determine the proper pressure for the respective load. I carry between 100-105 psi cold pressure on ours and via the TST tire pressure monitor have seen the tires go up to 118-125 psi on hot days. I would venture to say that the manager you had a discussion with is not very knowledgeable.

Kind of thought the same thing, Bingo. He's also the same guy that said there were no such thing as long metal valve stems for the dually.

On my second set of G614, ALWAYS run at 110PSI cold inflation, never a problem, with the TPMS you do see the pressure increase as heat builds up. The tire is designed SPECIALLY for heavy trailering, notice the unique tread pattern and the very stiff sidewall construction.
I can't believe all the misinformation I have read about this particular tire. Use the RIGHT rims that are certified for 110PSI and you will have no problems any decent tire shop will also recommend metal high pressure valve stems too.

I had put the 614s on our Monty, a 2955 and ran them at 100 to 105. Our SOB came with them and since it 3000 Lbs heavier than the Monty kept them at 110. Now have "H" rated 17.5 on it and they're at 125. I attended several tire seminars at the GS Rally in Daytona and they did touch on the Load Inflation Charts, they pretty much recommended running the max pressure.

When I had my G614's installed my Goodyear dealer told me to run them at 100 psi. So far I have approx. 5000 miles on them and they have been great and no abnormal wear.

When we bought our G614s the tire dealer told us to use 100 psi. They do a alot of commercial truck tires and deal with the coal mines in Montana and Wyoming so I think they know what they are doing.

No matter what tire you may use, always carry the recommended pressure (cold) for a fully loaded rig. For lesser loads you can reduce the pressure.

I now have 10k miles on my G614. My load on each wheel averages 3150# (15500# total for the 3400RL). G614 charts shows to run them 90#~95# range. I run the tires in the 95#~100# range. I have had zero problem to date and I am showing no abnormal wear. FYI on a "E" rated tire @10k miles was when my tire problems would typically start. So far so good on the G614s.

Bingo answered your question about the numbers but it sounds like you need a new RV tire dealer. One that is familiar with more than the popups and lightweight trailers this guy is used to. RV or not, tires come in all shapes and sizes and need to be mounted on wheels that support the size and psi. As RVs get heavier, so will the gear that supports them. With tires, the psi is a major factor in satisfying ratings assuming you have the right tire and wheel, too and it doesn't sound like this guy is familiar with larger trailers of any kind.

Art, he's not my tire dealer. He was convenient to ask about longer valve stems for my TST sensors. The pressure topic arose in that conversation. Figured he didn't know squat, when he said that you couldn't use longer valve stems unless you were a semi.
