You call this a mattress

As I said the other day we got our new 3625RE. Now the fun starts, getting stuff fixed and replaced. First anybody with a 2012 Montana, What do you think of the mattress? and I use that term loosely. The day after we brought it home we took the plastic off the and were amazed at what we saw. This mattress is an absolute piece of junk. If I sit on the edge it flattens down to the plywood. I'm comparing this to the mattress we had in our 09. That one was very good. This one says Keystone all over it.

Some of the other issues

Front landing gear, Leg binding up
Rear stabilizer, Motor laboring and very load while trying to move the legs
Converter has a noticeable hum like a high voltage box.
And a whole host of cosmetic issues.

One more thing, it at the dealers as we speak getting some of the thing taken care of. While there I asked to have metal valve stems installed. The tech just called me and said it must need some kind of special stems. He said the metal washer on the outside of the rim will not fit in the hole in the rim. He said it hits the rim before it compresses the rubber grommet.

They make stems with the nut on the inside. They are nothing special, just another style. My tire guy got them for me.

Well, as of right now, sure wish I had my 09 back. I came from the manufacturer in very good condition. It also appears the quality of some of the components was much better in 09.

kevin

Are there a lot of complaints about the 2012's?

The mattress in our 2011 is absolutely excellent. We subesquently put a 1 1/2" memory foam on top of the mattress and it's all dreamland once we hit it at night.

Swanny if it helps any we have owned 6 different 5th wheels and only two had a good mattress 4 of them we had to have a 4" topper. We now have a Sleep number and want go back to a regular RV mattress. Sorry to hear about all the issues. Its very frustrating to have so many small issues that should have been caught before being shipped and for sure during the PDI. Good Luck. Happy Trails....

This is our 5th Rv and all the mattress were junk. We never used the one in the 06 3400. we asked not to puy one in and they said we would get a 50.00 rebate. We took the mattress donated it to the local good will and purchased a good one.

We love the king that came in our 2011. The one in our 2008 was junk.

Must be hit an miss on mattresses at Keystone. We had a top of the line home mattress in our TT we took out of our guest room when we bought the TT and it's mattress was junk. When we bought our 2010 3665RE this summer the we didn't want either the king size bed or the crummy mattress so they cut the bed down for us (more room in the bedroom) and they kept the crappy king mattress and we transferred our almost new queen from the TT.

It seems like the dealer told me last year Montana was coming out with a Pillow Top Mattress? Guess not!

Like others here we opted to use a good Serta mattress with memory foam on top of that.

Keystone did in fact come out with a pillow top mattress. My 2011 3750 has it (ours is a King) and as I stated earlier ... it's extremely comfortable! I guess they didn't put them in all units.

The first time out with our 2011 the mattress was just sleep-able. after two days we went into town and bought a 3 inch mem foam topper and it's now comfortable. I will add that is starting to sag in the middle at the foot of the bed. We can't imagine why since we don't put any weight there. I can see a new mattress soon.

Mattresses are probably like tires the good ones are an option and dealers may no order them to save money.

I think putting cheap mattresses into rigs must be a standard thing with so many RV
manufacturers. When we got our 2007 it had a king, and we didn't like how much room it wasted up in the bedroom area. Our friends had a 2007 with a king, and their mattress was really BAD. So I gave them ours. I then cut down the bed platform to suit a queen, put a tiny lip around the edge to hold the mattress in place. We went to a local foam shop and ordered a queen short, 6" high density foam with the waffle top finish on both sides with Egyptian cotton zip on and off cover. We sleep like we are in heaven. Less weight, more comfort.

Maybe it is time that Keystone simply leave the bedrooms empty, chop the price or offer would be buyers an upgrade to something that a person can sleep on.

I can see putting el cheapo mattresses in cheap campers, because in a lot of cases they are only used for a 2 week vacation or 3 or 4 weekend jaunts in the summer. However for a lot of us, we spend up to 6 months (or more) in our rigs and having a good sleep is important.
My last two trailers were Keystone products and we changed out the mattresses immediately after we took delivery of the rig.

We left the plastic on our original mattress and put it in a silent auction. Never used it once as it retained no form whatsoever!!!. Replaced it with a excellent quaity mattress and never looked back. This is on a 2009 3400RL.

Our 2010 mattress is excellent. Really better than the expensive one in stickhouse. It is the king with the rounded corners. Larry

Our 2011 3400 came with a pillow top mattress. Very comfortable, and WAY better than the one we had in our 2007 3400. Guess it depends on the year of the unit?
