I should feel better but don't. When we went to Branson 2 weeks ago we experienced the same thing with a strong cross wind and fixed it with a bungy. Our previous 5th wheel SOB never gave us this problem. Does Montana use a different supplier for steps????

Our steps started extending on their own last summer while traveling in South Dakota. I just used one of those twisty ties that give the grandkids so much trouble at Christmas. I told them about how they fixed grandma and grandpa's trailer so they now save them for me. I use em for everything because I'm cheap.

Ours come down twice last fall driving through Wyoming. The first time I thought I forgot to put them up and a few minutes later they were down again. A bungee cord solved the problem.
I hear you, must of been between Cheyeene and Rawlins ??? what a cross wind there, blew mine down twice before I tied it closed.I was coming back home from Indiana with my new 5ver.

I went with Bill's idea and it works great. Quick and easy.

I've had the problem on real windy days, the bungee is the easiest solution.

Took the heads up when we started traveling and just bungee the steps as a matter of course. Dont know if I would have a problem but see no sense in finding out. A little prevention is sure worth alot of cure....
